This won’t go away. A friend from Pittsburgh, PSU alum, is telling me they are putting a full court press on Sexton behind the scenes. I assume especially now that Sitake has turned down Penn St. BTW, Carpenter is a management consultant, whatever that means..
You know what, technically, I don’t know how much Kalen DeBoer actually likes being the head coach at Alabama either. I have never had the chance to ask him. Me and this Carpenter fella have probably had the exact same number of conversations with DeBoer, zero. I am always amazed at the nobodies the sports media finds to "join" their shows.
Is LSU a better job right now, in the past, or in the future? Who cares? Coaches are highly competitive. They all have aspirations of taking a team all the way and hoisting that trophy at the end of the year.
Kiffin, this idiot, for the first time in his HC career, has a real shot at doing this, and he bailed. He quit on the #6 team in the country, a title contender, to take a job at a school currently unranked. Title contender to nothing. Everything you strive to achieve in a coaching career was within reach, and you decided the Music City Bowl was a better option.
I don't care what comes out of this guy's mouth, but if he truly liked being in Oxford, then he would still be there. Kiffin has been looking to leave ever since he was hired. He practically begged for the Bama job 2 years ago. If LSU had called in 2022, he would have left then as well. He was never staying in Oxford long term, and bailing on a national title chance is proof.
With all the coaches leaving CFP-contending schools right now, I never want to hear them whine about players opting out or entering the transfer portal early ever again. If the coaches can do it, so can the players.
