I don't think there will be an opening at Texas the end of this year. I think Brown's got strong backing by the powerbrokers at UT and the horn fans have gotten use to mediocrity. He is going to try to pull a Bowden in Austin and think it will get ugly in the end. But then again, I know nothing.

We're going to have a small update on the site in a few minutes (writing it now). I was able to talk to someone today that I feel comfortable knows what's going on and they confirmed the earlier reports. No specific word on numbers but I was told the raise was "healthy" and I would expect the $6m-$6.5m numbers to be accurate in the long run. The deal would extend into the next decade.

Actually I could probably have just put the update here. (g) Because that's about as much hard info as I was able to get.

Rodney Orr tweeted $7-$8MM being tossed around is not accurate. Personally, would think $6-$6.5MM is about right. Maybe announce Nick Saban Field at BDS too.

Everyone in this thread should take a week timeout. LOL. I will say these are rumors I enjoy reading about. If this extension comes through it is basically a lifetime contract. It will make Saban the Bear of our generation. It's incredible that Bama has had two of the best coaches of all time. The rich get richer. RTR.
