What's missing in the above video by the governor is a backdrop with these photos.....

The whole thing is sad.
Journalists (sigh) once again refusing to do their job competently, which is so critical to a functioning republic.
Local public affairs withholding information that might have helped defuse the situation.
A demagogic governor rushing to judgment.
A town badly damaged.
Most importantly, a young man dead. He may have been a knucklehead and a shoplifter, but I wish he wasn't dead.

That's a tough case. IIRC, she was actually on the ground already shot, begging for her life. I also think she turned out not to be pregnant. However, the homeowner was, after all, 80. They'd invaded his home and he couldn't be sure that she wasn't "playing possum" until she could get a better position to grab him. Tough case...

And let's not forget had physically assaulted him to boot. I think too many people underestimate the trauma in being "beat up" (aka physically assaulted) and the frame of mind it puts one in.

Oh, so what they SHOULD have done was what the cops did in the George Zimmerman case, right? Come to the conclusion that it was self-defense and tell us all that's what it was. Yeah, there was no media circus or nonsense there, just a clear and accurate reporting of the facts. Shame on Ferguson for not being like the cops in Florida!!!!
Oversimplify much? It is ridiculous to equate the two incidents. About the only thing they have in common was that a white guy shot and killed a black guy in self-defense.

A white policeman killing a black youth v a white civilian killing a black youth
Victim lived in the community v being from out of town
No evidence suggesting that the cop did anything wrong, v. a 911 dispatcher telling Zimmerman to stay in his damned car.
etc.

You can't seriously believe for even one second it makes a difference to the rabble-rousers in Ferguson....
"Rabble-rousers" <> "protestors". And, yes, I do think that if the Ferguson PD had gotten out in front of this situation and provided a factual report of the events, that the number of people protesting would have been greatly reduced, and that some if not all of the subsequent violence could have been avoided. Instead, the PD acted like they were trying to hide something, making matters worse.

The cops in Ferguson got on the wrong side of a historical metaphor. This was doomed from the get-go but a bonanza for ratings.
There have been a lot of media circuses. Not all of them devolve into violence.

George Zimmerman wasn't "white". Nor was he "White Hispanic" being that doesn't even exist.

Did anyone hear Capt. Ron Johnson of the MO State police speak last night? How the hell did he become a captain? He clearly can't manage the situation and is totally lost on how to deal with the events at hand.

I lost all respect for him when he stood up in a church the other night and made it an emphasis to say he went up stairs to kiss his "BLACK SON" before he went to bed. The crowd erupted in cheers. This thing is like a bad case of herpes.

1. White v white-hispanic. If we're going to specify race, let's at least cite the race correctly.

2. The "stay in your car" order never happened. The actual quote was, "We don't need you to do that", when Zimmerman asked if he should follow. It's ambiguous at best, but as a buddy of mine said when we discussed this, "If I ask my wife if she wants me to take out the trash and she says 'you don't need to', I know I darn well better."

Yes, because asking your wife about a chore is exactly like asking a 911 dispatcher about taking the law into your own hands.

Alrighty then. Big man hits a cop and fractures his skull. Cop puts him down.
Tell me again, why is anybody protesting in Ferguson?

Because...because...they killed an unarmed black teenager. Doesn't matter what he did, he had no right to be killed...

Not trying to attack the messenger here, but regarding Officer Wilson's “Orbital Blowout Fracture to Eye Socket” - do we have ANY other source other than Gateway pundit for this?

It came out in the first day or so that he was taken to the ER with facial injuries. I don't remember where I heard it, but my guess that it was on network news. At that time, no detail was given about his facial injuries other than that his face was badly swollen...

You're right. I remember hearing (briefly) about it early on but haven't heard it since. It was almost like it was swept under the carpet.

Just makes me wonder as I've googled all over and no one gets credit for confirming this other than gateway Pundit, and I'm not real sure that's a reliable news source.

I have a difficult time believing this is known fact and NONE of the major outlets are covering it...

I briefly heard it on the national news shortly after some info started coming out. ABC with Diane Sawyer to be exact. But you're right. It's not something that has been out there for the all to see or hear.
