Could Sly Be Bitter?

Do We Have Any Friends?

After the game the announcer was saying how Coach Shula and Croom were friends and spoke often on the phone. With friends like this who needs enemies?

Think about it if Coach Shula and Coach Croom were that good of friends would Shula have taken Croom's name off the Spring award? The public outcry later forced him to put Croom's name back on it. If they were good buddies would Croom turn Bama in for minor recruiting violations, especially in light of Bama's recent troubles? I also heard Coach Shula say during either the MSU pre-game or post game interviews that he didn't talk to Croom much. That reply was in response to the question does he talk to Croom much about coaching. Shula said he has relied on Coach Gailey at Georgia Tech who he coached with at Miami and Georgia's Coach Richt for advice from fellow coaches. Coach Shula had high praise for both of them and said he respected them both a lot and he didn't say too much about Croom. I am sure Coach Shula is friendly with Croom but the feelings sure don't look mutual to me. Did you see the post game handshake? Of course I am not close to the situation and I can only go by what I read and hear on the matter. I am through with talking about Croom Bama has much bigger fish to fry. Let's get to cooking some Tigers. ;)

How many Bama fans still think Coach Shula made a "mistake" when he took Croom's name off the Spring award? Personally, I think the mistake was when he put the name BACK ON IT.
Wonder what could be found if someone started nit picking MSU's recruiting practices.

Croom needs to get to back worrying about his own little
world problems like adjusting his ballcap straight to start not looking like
a dumb***,trying to get running water introduced into Starkville,
,quit trying to act like he's an emulator of Coach Bryant
while he can't even keep his little band of thug's under control on a leash-no pun intended or not/no discipline, and go back to contemplating
what a stupid decision he made for even thinking about pizz state.
I have no sympathy for the goat.

Don't forget Vince Sutton too. Lewis and Zow were outstanding for the Tide and are beloved by all.

Walter Lewis was an outstanding BAMA QB... but I do not believe the term "beloved" quite fits. I was a young ladd during Lewis' tenure, but I vivdly remember many bad feelings aimed toward him any time he made a mistake. I didn't understand it then, how some Tiders were untouchable, yet he was made a scapegoat at every opportunity. I came to understand why as I got older.

As for Croom's comment, Is it not true? How many of you really think Jimmy Johns will ever play QB at Bama, other than the occassional roll out sweep play ala Deuce and TP. I choose to believe that Coach Croom's assesment was not racially motivated, just the truth based on our depth at QB.

When asked about the performance of Jimmy Johns against his MSU team on Saturday, Croom commented that, "I told him he would never play quarterback at Alabama"
WHY even make the comment? All that was needed was a simple he played good or any simple acknowledgement!

His comment leads me to beleive he is really upset about not getting the Bama job and also losing twice to HCMS's BAMA team! SOUR GRAPES!!

I lost a lot of respect for him after reading that, sounds alot like the BIG ORANGE PUMPKIN, or even the 'LIL URBAN-SPREAD!

What is it about these coaches when they lose to BAMA, they either forget how to articulate their words or make statements that will only add flames to the fire!
Either of those or they go out of their way to say they didn't play a good game instead of simply saying the BAMA players & staff did a good job!

My youngest Grandchildren get along better with other kids than these whimpy guys/kids!

Croom bitter?

He is at Mississippi State. He lives in or near the appropriately-named Starkville.

Perhaps the better question is "How could he NOT be bitter?"

Croom did not have to go to Starkville. He knew how hard it would be to put together a winning program there. He may yet do it but it will be a long, hard road and it is doubtful if MSU will allow him the time. He took the job thinking he could take the JJ's of the south away from CMS and Bama.
I sincerely wish he had not shown the bitterness he has because the Bama nation loved him and would have supported him in every game except ONE. He is not the first coach that didn't get his dream job.

Bottom line: I believe they all (as did many of us) thought that the NCAA had hit us so hard that they had at least another 2-4 years before we would be whipping their tails. Now, that it is already happening, they are dumbstruck. They all realize that with Shula at the helm and Bama back on top their lives will never be easy and their opportunities to win the SEC will indeed be rare.
