Re: Cyrus Kouandjio Commitment (all CK discussion goes here)

I'm about to leave this frenzy, but, first, this about Facebook. Earlier, CK's brother basically invited friending by members here and quite a few have taken him up on it. CK has his settings so that only "friends of friends" can see his wall. IOW, you can't just put in "Cyrus Kouandjio" and see anything beyond his profile picture. So, there are a number who've been following his real FB page as a result of being friended with Mike, and, if you've followed over a number of days, there's no chance it's fake - not after witnessing the continuing war of words between Bama and barn fans (why does a kid want 3K+ friends, anyway). I don't know anything about the fake page. Tonight, on his real, verified, page, he changed his profile pic, and put up a number of pro-AU pix plus one very anti-Bama pic. TIFWIW

Edit: This talk about "stalking" is basically a pile of crap. Anyone who accepts 3,000 "friends" is basically running a PR operation. If you take his 3K friends, plus the friends of all those friends, it runs into tens of thousands, at least. Saying that someone who checks in on a page like that is "stalking" really dates one...

I could go old school as well and do the Honky Tonk Man impression and each midget we don't want I could smash them across the face with a guitar.
Oh yes, then we could have a couple dudes dress like chizik and trooper come in and stop the music. They point to us and say "Now you stop this signing now before we show you what is good for you." then I can pull a folding chair out from under the signing table and hit chiz over the head with it. Woooooooo! then you run trooper out of the room and into the back stage and beat him with your guitar.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio Commitment (all CK discussion goes here)

The big difference between commenting on a recruit on a forum and going their facebook is that since I don't go on kids facebook I don't know his favorite ice cream flavor, book and what the kid in chemistry class thought of their homework. Quit being creepy. If the account is open it's still somewhat weird but not near as bad as asking to be a friend
At 20, I guess I don't see how weird it is to look at someone's open profile, especially someone high profile. I also find it weird that several people who have bad-mouthed "stalking" also were very quick to distinguish his fake profile to his real profile, lol.

As Tide-HSV says, his bro invited us to be his friend on Facebook after posting here. I took him up on it. I haven't searched out Cyrus, but his link was on his brothers profile.

I don't believe it to be fake, the reason being we share two mutual friends. One a awebarn grad ( young lady) and a family member. So therefore i don't believe it is fake. Also he has a lot of awebarn stuff on his page. Yesterday and about 10 pages ago I believed he was all Bama, and I still do. But his brother tweeted something to the affect of he was my brother first but now he is there, we'll just make him pay for it later. TIFWIIW

The thing about those pics is they are just tagged to him by an Auburn fan, not like he posted them himself. I just hope tomorrow he makes the best decision for him and hopefully it will work out out for him wherever he goes.

I really hate to hear about the "very anti-Bama pic" Earle. Not sure what to make of that.

But I totally agree with the "stalking" junk. These kids are advised to do everything they can to get exposure and keep their name "out there." That is why these kids post youtube videos, FB pages, Myspace pages etc. It is marketing and PR work and that's it.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio Commitment (all CK discussion goes here)

Ok, this might be my last post because this is turning into something ugly in here and everywhere else.

1- Our family is not shady and does not treat with shady people, honesty is one thing our parents taught and continue to teach us everyday. We never asked for a Cent (even in canadian dollars) from anyone. It is a blessing for us to have two kids going to college for free and we are immensely grateful for that...

2- just because some agent or any other individual writes on cyrus's wall on facebook, it does not mean that the kouandjio's fam is affiliated w/ him... cyrus has more than 4k "friends" on FB (which is way too much i must admit) and he's not in control of what they write on his wall.

3- Our father was not quoted right today. He never "asked" cyrus to play somewhere. We are a family and people in family help each other, especially a 17yr old who's about to make a major life changing decision. We discussed this as a family but never forced cyrus to go somewhere he didn't wanna go to. The final decision has always been cyrus'. We as a family only gave him the tools to make an intelligent decision.... we just acted like a typical american family seeing their child go to college. we discuss with the kid, we let him pick, and we send him away with all our love and blessings.

4- Again this was not supposed to be a circus, but it just happened to turn out this way. i'm personally very proud of cyrus. Some people say that if he can handle the pressure of signing day, how could he handle the pressure in an SEC game... well i think he handled the pressure very well. Another kid could've signed those papers without being 100% sure that that's what they really wanted to do and regret it later in their alone moments, but he had the courage to tell the world that "hey, i probably made a mistake and i need more time". I think that speaks character.

5- I didn't spell check this

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio Commitment (all CK discussion goes here)

IMHO, I think Cyrus wants to go to Auburn. I think you're right that much of it had to do with blazing his own trail. I'm sure playing time had a lot to do with it as well. I don't doubt for one minute that cheez-nip and staff were tell him that he'd probably have to RS a year at Bama but would not at Awbarn. And I doubt that CK put any thought to the logistical nightmare it was going to cause his parents. I'm sure his parents already had it planned out that both would attend Bama. They could travel in the same vehicle to the same place to watch both play. CK's decision put a huge monkey wrench into that now they are having to explain this to CK but ultimately will allow him to go where his heart lies which IMO is Auburn.

I don't think he really wants to go to AU. I think Cheeznik and TT emotionally scared him away from UA. He saw linemen leaving AU and us just sign a juco guy. I'm sure Chizik really played the "follow in your brother's shadow" card. He is a very impressionable young man. The "spell" wore off when he actually said Allbarn. He realized, "What have I done?" He sees a better opportunity to start early at AU. But if he really thinks about it, he'll realize you don't get into the NFL based on your freshman or even sophmore year performance. It is based off your junior or senior year performance. Knowing his family, they will expect him to get his degree before the NFL. So he'll be there for 4 years either way. Would you rather go to school with your brother? or play football against him?
Plus, i think McGregor mentioned that Arie will probably grow into a guard type. Giving Cyrus the opportunity for tackle. I think he eventually signs with Bama.

Ive been forced to look at it a bit more, the auburn and bama stuff posted on his page were posted by others, and he was tagged to them. The Cyrus that made the auburn commitment on the wall was not the same cyrus the page belonged to it was a guy who changed his name and pic and just posted to the wall. thats what ive gathered and that was from the auburn posters on there.

I feel he will likely go to the aubs and my gut tells me his coach has played a large role in that move. The bright side is i dont care where he announces to, because its already happened once.

This answers a lot, and puts a lot of things to rest. I hope you stick around dude. You are looking at a very unhealthy rivalry at work, here. I never doubted your family, I have always said you guys are classy all the way. God bless you and your family.

Cecil Newton (real one) posted on your brother's Facebook recently. I find it weird that these high profile Auburn characters are doing this, they have some very weird ways. I wish you the best, but would love for you to hang around here. Hate that we may have ran you off.

edit - if you need anything when you come visit Arie at Bama, hit me up and I'll be glad to help.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio Commitment (all CK discussion goes here)

Based on all the information that has been put out regarding this I just don't buy that his sudden indecision was due to the "spell" wearing off. But rather to the reaction he got from his family and everyone else. And the potential consequences of the decision that he really didn't put much stock in. But at the end of the day I firmly believe the kid wants to go to Auburn, be his own man and get on the field faster.

I hate that your family is going through this. So much silliness being thrown out without any foundation. I too feel that Cyrus has shown to be able to handle the situation as well as any 17-18 year old could. I have mentioned on here a couple of times how I too was affected by making a life changing decision about joining the Navy or going to Alabama at his age and I didn't have millions of people hanging on my every word.
I commend you and your family for being above board and wish that Cyrus makes the best decision for him. It is his life that he has to plan for and not a bunch of rabid fans.
