Which seems to account for a bigger portion of my paycheck these board of dirrector days, is that we may not win, might lose badly, but alot of very mad Alabama players are going down to the plains to set things right again.

My personal feelings are we are going to skin some cat and pluck feathers. And while i am at it, lsu was very very lucky to beat us. I am not at all worried about aburn and what they think. Mods, hope you clip this one if you're afraid i will start more trouble for the team. Easy for meto say, but i totally believe we
will win.

Look who's talking.I hate to burst his bubble but Coffee and Johns look more impressive running the ball than Darby does.I've seen lot's of RB's in my time and the great's know how to hit the hole's run north and south not side to side.All that jick jiving only cost's valuable time.Time that should be used running up field and over people.Next time try dropping a shoulder and running through a tackler not at him.But then again you need to be able to get to or through the line.Can't hit the hole's if their not there.
Now if I were the coach of Auburn and I watched the game tapes this week,I'd say blitz blitz blitz.Why?? I think we all know the answer to that one.Roll Tide Roll

These stats are heavily skewed by Brodie's sacks.

Against LSU, for example, Brodie was sacked 5 times for 47 yards.

We ran well against LSU in the first half, then abandoned what was working in the second.

I hope our coaching staff turns to Darby, McClain, & Co. this weekend. Darby is an NFL-caliber running back--we need to give him the ball!

Darby jukes because there's no hole. Period. When he was in HS, he had to be weaned off trying to run over everybody - still his problem in college. Sparky worked with him more to get him to make a move first. He's operating most of the time without blocking. I don't think you'd like to take it up with him directly... :D

PS: IF he does decide to go to the NFL after this season, it will be because of the lack of run-blocking...

At 44 year's of age no,I don't want to hurt the kid :) .Are you trying to bash me??Only stating the game as I saw it.Which we could go through the whole game and all the fault's but that's not what I'm here for.

That would be his worst move to date.Education come's first,without that a career ending injury get's you nowhere.Lord willing,that won't happen.

You don't know what you're talking about! Darby had 130 yards himself! You can't count Brodie's sacks into what we did on the ground! Also, did you realize that we held BOTH of LSU's so-called great backs to under 70 total rushing yards!

I agree. Darby averaged 5.0 yds/carry against LSU. He had 72 yards in the 1st half. I counted stats on rolltide.com and found that he only carried the ball 8 times during regulation time of the 2nd half. Johns had 13 yards on 1 carry and Coffee had 14 on 1 carry. Neither of those two guys got a carry in the 2nd half.

just pointing out that without that first juke to dodge the penetrating linemen, those three yard gains would turn into no yardage gained. I do know him personally and I know his first preference is to try to run over somebody, and, as I said, Woods got him to see, as you apparently can't, that he's not going to run over a 300 lb DL or a 260 lb LB. When he has a hole - the Ole Miss TD - he's as quick through it as anyone. However, you are in professional company. Your complaint is precisely the same that Holmgren leveled at SH for his first couple of seasons. However, I haven't heard it lately... :D

I wish you were calling the plays Real Bam Fan.

Why we are so quick to abandon the running game is beyond me when our OL can't stay on their defenders in pass protection and we actually move the ball on the ground? I certainly hope that we stay with the run a little longer this week against Auburn or my confidence in this coaching staff's abilities in play calling will take a serious nosedive.

I didn't say run over a 300 lb DL.He should be quick enough to avoid a slow 300 lb DL.As for the 260 lb LB,yes you can run over one of these.Even at 5'11" 205 lb Darby size it can be done ,but at 225 lb 6'2" I've seem it happen quite a few times.( Check your roster the secret weapon lies within.)

I'm just bemused...

(and amused) that the single element of our offense which has been above criticism is now being second-guessed. I don't know anything about your sig line, but, if it were removed, it was for a reason...

What games have you been watching this year? As Earle mentioned earlier, you have to try to juke and bounce a running play outside the intended hole if it's not there. If you truly believe that JJ and GC are better running backs, you obviously are seeing something that the vast majority of this board AND (more importantly) the coaches are not seeing. Personally, I'll side with the coaches and what I see... KD is FAR and AWAY the better back of the three.
 
Yeah, been accused of doing that some myself. ;) Always good to see one of our mods take someone to task when something lacks substance though... thanks for all that you and the other mods do (recommend a raise... how about doubling your salary in 06?). :biggrin:

...cooleddie.... one can only wonder..what if..what if they had a few more carries between them.Heck maybe Bama could be 10-0.But that's my non professional opinion...you'll have to ask the Omnipotent professional's to share their infinite wisdom.That's all water under the bridge now so let's move on.
But on the other hand,if they perform the same this weekend as last weekend,the score will be in the neighborhood of.....let's say.......AU-24 UA-10.But as alway's ROLL TIDE ROLL.
