What is Darby thinking by saying something like this to a Mobile Register reporter? This is unbelievable. Any thoughts?

Still, Darby likes his team's chances of making the running game go on Saturday in Auburn.

"I don't think it'll be too difficult," Darby said. "If we just come out and play, fire off the ball and just hit them before they hit us and run hard like we've been doing all year, I don't think it should be that hard.

"Sure enough Auburn's a good defense. Yeah, they have a great defense, but we've played against some great defenses: LSU, Tennessee and those type guys."

What is wrong with what he said? Would you have liked him to say "There is no way we can run on Auburns defense."?? He is not guaranteeing a victory or saying that they arent as good as LSU or Tenn, he is just saying that they have played UT and LSU and had success.. what should make Auburn any different...

This wasnt a Lamar Thomas/Mincey type comment. Basically all he said is that we have to play physical.

Maybe this is a good thing. At least he's showing some confidence. He's not being arrogant or anything.

It's about time the offense started attacking instead of getting attacked.

What if Kenny Irons said those things about us? What would y'all be saying?

Nothing. KD never came out and said that Auburn's defense wasn't good. He basically said we've been playing good defenses all year (which we have) and have had success running the ball.

If you'll read between the lines, looks like KD is trying take some attention off the OL while at the same time trying to encourage/challenge them. Obviously, the comments/actions of BC over the past couple of weeks has shown a lot of disgust for missed asignments... KD's comments, on the other hand, seems to be saying "come on guys, I've got confidence that you can do the job." Don't think this is out of character for a leader of our team (and he is).

About Confidence

The gimmicks stopped when Stallings arrived.

"He just said Alabama was supposed to beat Auburn because Alabama's supposed to beat everybody," Shultz said. "He'd stand up there and tell us, 'If you do this, you'll kick their butts.'"

That simple message was borne out on the first play of Stallings' first game against Auburn. Defensive tackle Byron Holdbrooks burst through the line and crushed Auburn quarterback Stan White.

"It set the whole tone for the game," Stallings said. Alabama won that one, 16-7 to break a four-year Auburn win streak.

(As told by Roger Shultz)

BRAVO, KD. Thank you for stepping up & stating the obvious. I hope it lights a fire under the OL, not that they need one for AuBarn, but we need some confidence right now. I also hope it wakes up Rader & CMS. They need to get creative, but also run the ball. That can be accomplished through some variations in our run game. I'm not saying we need to run flea-flickers & reverses, but let's try to screen, draw, off-tackle, & mis-direct them until they can't see straight. Then, Brodie will have all the time he needs to throw the ball. We don't need razzle-dazzle, just some variety. This IS AuBarn, the team that has beaten us 3 straight years. The LSWho game is over, we can't win it now, but we can beat the barn, shut them up for a year, go to a great bowl & get ready for a great '06 season.

Run Bama Run

Give Darby the ball...

Give Coffee the ball...

Give Johns the ball...

And then give the ball to...

Castille and then...

McClain...

And then BAMA WINS!!!!

Auburn has been able to move the ball rushing this year when they really needed it. They lit up LSU for 230 yards and 6.1 per carry. Against Georgia, they ran for 227 and 4.9 per carry.

We only mustered 97 and 3 per carry on LSU, and 67 and 1.9 per carry on Tennessee. We really lit up South Carolina, though, for 338 and 6.5 per carry. But if their linemen had been down in a stance, that may have been different.

Look, I've never played football in college, but played all the way through high school and this crap about "bulletin board" material is total and utter horse hockey! If Auburn needs something said by a Bama player as motivation then they're aren't 1/2 the team I think they are! As a matter of fact, I've always laughed at the so-called bulletin board material. It will motivate you for the first play of the game and after that you are not thinking about what Darby said or Kenny Irons or anybody else...you're thinking about your job.

It's all stupid and totally useless from a motivational standpoint.
