Defining free speech

Free speech means that the government won't put you in jail or confiscate your property because of something you said. Even that has some limits....the famous example of shouting, "Fire!" in a crowded theater when you know there isn't one, you can't threaten the life of the President, and I'm sure there are a few others.

It doesn't mean freedom of consequences from something you said. Like ostracism, firing from a job, etc. Ask the Dixie Chicks how that works.

Way, way, way too many people don't understand that distinction.

Speaking of them, have you seen their lead singer lately? It looks like she's eaten a calf and been dipped in a 50 gallon drum of rainbow paint. Time hasn't been kind to her.

I saw her a while back and had to do a double take.

I liked the song and video they did back in the day, Earl had to die. It was creative and pretty funny.

i don't know that i would categorize a 50+ year old woman putting on weight to necessarily be physical decline as opposed to physical change

My wife turned 50 last year and is going through all the "changes" that come with it. Her doctor advised her that if at anytime paying attention to her health, diet and exercise were important, now is the time. He also prescribed her a low level of hormone treatment. She has been able to drastically curb any weight gain that she was beginning to see and her energy level has improved dramatically. She now works out at the gym three to four times a week.

good for her. i will add that not all women experience these things the same way and that physical/health “decline” cannot always be assumed based on physical appearance
