the first benefit from the guilty verdict…

Larry Hogan, the former GOP Governor of Maryland, is running for the Senate. But now, since Hogan put out a statement supporting the rule of law and our court system, he’s been blackballed by Trump.
Trump has handicapped their best chance to flip a Senate seat by going after Hogan.

If he doesn’t win the election he still has three more trials pending.
He’s guilty on 34 felony counts now, with 50 or more In the wings. He still may get jail time.
and there’s no telling what kind of criminal behavior he will do in the next few months.
This is up to the SCOTUS and the immunity case. Before the verdict I was leaning towards this court not granting presidential immunity, mainly because it would benefit all presidents and not just Trump. After the verdict, I'm not so sure. Now more than ever, this corrupt court is probably going to find a way to help their Führer, probably with a made-up loophole that somehow only grants Trump immunity and not all presidents.

The wrong case for the wrong offense just reached the right verdict.

Donald Trump will not be held accountable before the 2024 presidential election for his violent attempt to overturn the previous election. He will not be held accountable before the election for absconding with classified government documents and showing them off at his pay-for-access vacation club. He will not be held accountable before the election for his elaborate conspiracy to manipulate state governments to install fake electors. But he is now a convicted felon all the same.

It says something dark about the American legal system that it cannot deal promptly and effectively with a coup d’état. But it says something bright and hopeful that even an ex-president must face justice for ordinary crimes under the laws of the state in which he chose to live and operate his business.

Maryland is considered a liberal state and Hogan was easily elected governor twice. He has never been a trump sycophant

Peter Zeihan is having some good fun with the Trump conviction.

According to him, Trump was in trouble anyway. Zeihan estimates that about 10% of the electorate is truly independent, and they were having real trepidation about Trump before the convictions. After the convictions, the significant majority of them will not even consider Trump. In an election that was as close as this one, that's a crushing blow.

Zeihan says the only way Biden doesn't win in November is if he's no longer breathing.

Can Former President Trump 'Make Felonies Great Again'? || Peter Zeihan (youtube.com)

BTW -- Zeihan also has a good video on recent developments in Ukraine. Specifically, western European countries that supply weapons are coming around to allowing the Ukrainians to use those weapons against Russia proper.

I can't link that one because there's a characterization of the way Putin's cronies curry favor with Putin that's well beyond TideFans' tolerances. Still, if you can overlook that one sentence, it's a worthwhile 5 minutes or so.

i see all the
I think he ought to get 90 days in jail doing as you suggest, no microphone, no makeup, no hairspray, no diapers. Post his jail mugshot for the whole nation to see so they can see him for what he really is a pathetic caricature of a human being.

I'd be perfectly fine with him getting 30 days for violating the gag order and 600hrs community service and a fine for the convictions. Would be some good photo ops of him picking up trash on side of the road or serving food in a soup kitchen in a hair net.

I can’t imagine voting to help the Republicans take control of the Senate, no matter how moderate the candidate might seem to be. There are some real jewels in the GOP in the Senate now, I’d hate to see their behavior with them in the majority.

There might be several Supreme Court seats that are filled the next term. I’d rather see the Dems in the majority in the Senate especially for that reason.

We’ll get ready because the map is very favorable for the GOP. They will most likely win the majority with the seats up for grabs.

I’m hoping poor choices for GOP candidates combined with the abortion issue will help the Dems hold the Senate, despite the conventional wisdom to the contrary.
