ESPN 30 for 30

Tonight after the Heisman Presentation, ESPN will be showing 30 for 30. Tonights show will feature SMU and the Pony Excess.

I've been looking forward to this one for a while. They lucked up big time because the scheduling of this episode was made back in May, and they just happened to fall into the whole Cam Newton situation.

The whole series has been pretty great. Some of my favorite ones were the ones that covered:

-The Baltimore Colts band in relation to the team moving to Indianapolis
-Who Killed the USFL
-The trade of Wayne Gretzsky
-Reggie Miller vs. The New York Knicks (Such a good one)
-The Two Escobars (By far, the best of the series)

My favorite was the one about Thug U..I barely remember when Miami was dominant back in the 80's & 90's..They owned college football during that span..

That was my favorite too. The entire episode they showed how much thugery those players engaged in and they conviently skipped over the beatdown in New Orleans on January 1, 1993.

My favorite epi of 30 for 30 has been the Marcus Dupree, but Thug U epi was darn good. Something tells me though, that "Pony Exce$$" will overtake Marcus Dupree as my favorite episode.

Yeah it ticked me off when they said nothing about that beatdown..Especially when you consider nobody gave us a chance too win the NC..That was the start of the fall for the "Mighty U" my dad once told me..

The documentary was done by a Miami grad. The fact he glossed over the downfall of the team and what brought it on made the documentary weak, in my opinion.

I can understand that..But as you said it was made by a Miami grad..He should have put in the loss to Bama because it was the beginning of the end for Miami..Still was my favorite of all the shows..

I really enjoyed the Marcus Dupree episode. I remembered him from that first seasonor so and thinking he was a HOSS. I had always wondered what happened for him to just fall off the face of the earth and didn't realize he had made a comeback. I'm glad he's happy with the way his career ended. I have to wonder what might have been without him being so lost at OU, the NFL problems, and the injury. He was certainly one of the most talented backs I've ever seen, but he could have been one of the true greats without the injury.

I'm really looking forward to the show tonight. Could be a preview of things to come.

I saw the Marcus Dupree one today too. Looked like he was sporting an all black Bama cap in an interview towards the end. What ever happened to Marquez...why did not pan out?

Seems like I remember something like his girlfriend got pregnant and he quit shortly after that. It was during the Fran years and I've tried to block his tenure out of my memory, so I can't recall exactly what happened.

ESPN 30 For 30: Pony Excess. The story of SMU and the Death Penalty

gonna be a good watch. Didn't realize how significant smu was before they were brought down.
