He does some, I remember a story about it before his Jr year
Also he saved a man from drowning in a lake at one point, he swam across the lake to get to him.
Media was too busy with a mouth full of tebow to notice though lol
Colt is a great guy, really proud to say he's a Longhorn regardless of the football field
Did he swim across the lake or did he walk across? :p

I'll give up 6 or 7 trophys, for 105 national championship rings, that will round out a bakers dozen! I'm sure there are 105 players that feel the same way!

Have you ever seen a national championship ring? My defensive coach from high school had 2 from 1964 and 1965 "CREED GILMER" it was the most impressive thing I have ever seen!

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to brag on Colt because if he were playing on your team, you'd all be so impressed with the kid.

He is everything you'd wish your own son to be. He's modest and humble. Soft spoken, he isn't going to get in your face to tell you about himself. He is extremely religious and will share his faith with you if you ask. Very active member of the Church of Christ denomination. He and Shipley attend the same church as do their parents.

My favorite story about Colt comes from 3 years ago after the Kansas State game. On a qb sneak, Colt got a neck stinger that was very serious and was pulled from the game. We lost that game 35-32. It was the one that kept us from winning the south division as Colt had led us to a victory over Oklahoma in his freshman year.

The plane did not get into Austin until about 3:30 the next morning, so you know that Colt couldn't have gotten to bed before 4:30 or 5:00. As the 9:30 church service started the next morning, there was Colt slipping into his usual pew seat.

In this day and age of youngsters not showing a lot of discipline and engaging into so many unhealthy endeavors, the very act of making it to church after being injured and getting in so late showed me where his head and heart was.

He has been going to South America for the past four years doing mission work for his church each summer. He just doesn't talk about it publicly.

I'll have to tell you the story about him swimming across a lake to save a mans life some other time...lol...but the story is true.

Like I said, if he played for Bama y'all would love him as much as we do.
Wow. That is a pretty cool story about him going to church after getting in so late. Not sure if I would have done that. Is he single?;) JK, but seriously he is a nice man. I wouldn't mind marrying him or Tebow. Just hope they would understand my love for Bama!

Colt really is a good kid from everything I've heard. There's no made up story here. He really is just a small town country boy from TX that is getting to live out his dream. He's the kind of guy you'd love to go hunting or fishing with. He's not the made for TV specimen that Tebow is.

Colt McCoy is a class act. He has helped to make this an enjoyable year in college football for all of America. Look forward to the Tide playing your Longhorns on 7 January 2010. Should be a game for the ages.

My team and I won back-to-back state championships in softball, and that was the greatest thing at the time. The first year we had a small ring that looked more feminine, but the next year we went all out. It is huge (not as big as a NC ring b/c I have seen pictures of some), but we were happy that we got a big ring the last go around!

I bet Bama fans would like him even more if they knew he grew up in Tuscola Texas. Not quite Tuscaloosa but close.

mark really had no chance to win this award or in my opinion the heisman trophy award. is there any other team in the country have a backup like trent richardson? he got 652 yards himself. and then coach saban stated he is not concerned about individual awards. there were several games that mark could have stayed in the game and easily gained at least 50 or more yards in the 4th quarter. however, what if he had of got hurt, or tired out at the end of the season. mark is a great back, and he is on a team that has a destiny, and it is going to be a team destiny, not an individual destiny. i am sure mark after next season will go into the pros as a first round pick, and enjoy all the money will receive, and hopefully at least one national championship.

I don't no what the fuss is about, Mark is only a sophmore, people. What he doesn't get this year he will next year or the following depending on if he stays or not. So let's sit back, prepare for Tejas, and get ready hopefully for number 13. Eventually the awards will come.:BigA:

From what little bit I know about him, I think McCoy is a class act. In fact, his faith, his play and his behavior off the field is worthy of as much praise as Tebow. For that matter, I know another QB from Texas that is intelligent, a good player (maybe not yet to the level of McCoy) and a class act and he has gotten even less respect than McCoy.

The fact of the matter is that Tebow may or may not be a likable guy on a personal level...99.9% of us will never know. Unfortunately, the media has done everything but crown him as King of Kings. For those of us who are skeptical of people who are over-hyped or those who do the overy-hyping, that is a turn off.

As a Bama fan, I will do my best to respect those who display character and love those who display character and wear Crimson. I wish McCoy the best...and by that, I mean that he finishes second Saturday and on January 7th.

Another over-hyped King of Kings?

Better go get a cold one and start now, it seems that the media still doesn't respect what Mark has done, no disrespect to Toby, but like you said how can you compare the defenses he faced versus the defenses Mark faced. You got it, you can't, I get angry and frustrated for the guys, at what they have accomplished as a team, that the individual awards for some are not coming. I don't care who you are, the SEC is the toughest conference to compete in, look what Florida did 22 straight wins, and Bama two back to back 10 win seasons, 3out of the last 4 MNC, and still lack of respect for the individuals except for Eric Berry.

Hopefully, I will be wrong, but just have a bad feeling that with all the attention Gerhart is getting, he will get it.
It's back to back 12-win seasons, and I don't think you're wrong.

I may be in the minority here but....
I don't have a problem with not racking up on individual awards (including the stiffarm one). Get NC #13. It will leave them hungry.
And I'm not taking anything away from their individual efforts.....I just happen to like Coach Bryant's old quote regarding national championships vs. individual awards. It's all about the team.
That's one way of looking at it. OR you can imply that this anti-Bama sentiment has been going on a long, long time.

Think so, huh? The media might be able to stop us from getting individual awards, but they can't stop us from getting #13. This snub of our guys' efforts, IMO, is going to **** the Tide off so much they're going to absolutely demolish Texas.
You think the guys were prepared for Florida?? Get ready, because "You ain't seen nothin yet"!

Anyone else think Colt's Wonderlic score may hover around that of Texas' previous starting QB?

When I saw him interviewed after the game last week, this was the first thing I thought about. As I read on down the thread I am thrilled that he has a 3.85 GPA which speaks highly of the importance of academics to him. I was just shocked as to how he answered the whole deal of being 1 step away from losing the biggest game of his career with poor clock management.
