I don't know that this one has been on here any time in recent years; I saw it elsewhere and thought "that might be interesting." Everyone has a 'he's nice, he's a jerk' story about all kinds of folks so here goes mine.
Chuck Yeager - met him multiple times. A pompous jerk, old school guy - but maybe that personality is what gave him the drive to break the speed of sound. Pilots unanimously say the same thing (at least the MANY I've heard talk about him)
Lesley Stahl - nice enough, kinda rigid and very precise in minutes used (again - has to be with her job)
Tommy "Wildfire" Rich - this is stretching the definition perhaps but this guy was huge in early 1980s wrestling (the pro exhibition stuff). Met him at a KMart autograph signing - he was a guy who didn't want to be there (or maybe it's because I'm a guy?); his cousin, Johnny, was incredibly nice (and he had a cast on his leg at the time).
Queen Elizabeth II - well, 'met' is a strong word, but she did say 'hello' to us when he plane landed at our base in the UK; I was such a stupid kid, I was expecting someone to come off the plane with jewels and a robe on. Didn't even know it was her until later. I was within a few feet of her.
Mark Cuban - met him at Cracker Barrel, he was at the booth right next to us (a Sunday in 2009). Very polite, but I didn't bother him. He has those killer model eyes, the good-looking stud type. His wife with him seemed a bit preoccupied; she was dressed casual and Cuban was wearing a sweatshirt (Mavs, of course) and sweatpants.
I've met a few 'celebrities' in the smaller pool of Christian celebrities - the nicest of whom was Chuck Swindoll, who will always stop and say a few words with me despite not having any idea who I am. (I've met him both at his church and on the seminary campus as well as out in public).
I've never met them, but it seems unanimous from what I've read that both Chevy Chase and George Peppard were/are colossal jerks.
