Link: Former Bama OC O'Brien Suggested QB Milroe Changed Position

Sure explains Millroe’s lack of development over his first two years in the program, doesn’t it?
Honestly, I gave O'brien and Golding too much credit. (which was not much to begin with). After seeing the job Steele and Rees have done this year. O'brien and Golding were even worse than I thought. I am sure outsiders/Bama haters will look up Stats and say that O'brien was better than Rees. But anyone who has watched this team grow and what they had to overcome knows that's not true.

This just raises my total disdain for the buffoon we had as an OC. What type of player would he be if he'd had any development his first two seasons? RIDICULOUS And to think we wasted two year's of Bryce Young on that lunatic.
We wasted 5 years on Golding. I used to be one of those guys that rolled my eyes at posters for constantly bringing him up. But then we got Steele who just simplified the Defense and got our guys back to the basics with fundamentals and aggression. Look at the results just from that. It makes me angry we held on to Pete for so long.

Well, I admit I was one that thought Jalen would be all-world as a wide out or slot receiver etc. Like everybody else, I just wasn't seeing any real development with Jalen at QB. Now, it appears we have found out why. I guess some coaches just won't spend time working on a player they already think can't do the job. Glad you stayed true to yourself Jalen. Keep on growing!!!

I do wish Jalen’s response had been a bit more professional. I’m glad he’s our quarterback this year, but I struggle with how he handles himself at times. Part of me hopes he balls out and goes pro.
Eh...I kind of like the chip on Jalen's shoulder. I think you got to let some players be themselves within reason. I have been one of Jalen's critics this year but don't have any problem with he said after the iron bowl or in response to what O'brien told him.

Yeah you really don’t know who is going to be there when you are going up and down the mountain in your career. It’s best not to burn bridges even when you have had a bad experience because you will be surprised at who comes to bat for you down the line. It’s why I never disclose anything negative about previous bosses at interviews or in professional settings.

But if he feels that way and that is what gets him motivated then fine.

I dig but dude is still a kid. I have a son his age and sometimes I think he is 21 but most of the time he is 12.

After watching what we saw when he played last year and even against Texas this year, who here can say they didn't have the same thoughts? i know i did. It was obvious he needed to be on the field somewhere but maybe not qb. Glad he stuck it out though.

This is not surprising since I think there was some discussion on here a year ago about some negative comments that O'Brien had to say about Milroe. This is not a defense of O'Brien but the fact is that some NFL people turn out to be very wrong sometimes, not just O'Brien. I think similar things were said about Jalen Hurts in his early days at Alabama, not by our OC but by others. I know there were some NFL scouts at the time that said Hurts had no future in the NFL as a QB.

What bugs me about it is that Saban hired these guys and, in Golding’s case, held onto him so long against all indicators that he was a subpar coach both during a game and as the LB coach. 5yrs burned and I don’t really know why.
