I must say after visiting the Maryland board before and after our game with them, its a pleasure to read the posts here. MD has the biggest inferiority complex I have ever run across for a major program. And the majority of posters there will NEVER give another team credit, simply bash.

Honestly, I don't think anyone is overlooking your team, no one from the athletic department or the Cuse fans at least. Honestly, I think I would prefer to play Stanford. You are much more athletic, and I think we would have had a similar advantage over them as you did - speed, athleticism, quickness, etc.

I honestly expect this to come down to the end. I haven't seen too much of you guys, but I did see you in NYC playing Pitt and you hung in there with them and we all know that team is a beast.

Best of luck from up north.....

That's funny Maryland had an inferiority complex. I figured you would have easily seen that when Syracuse played Auburn in football

Great post nyucuse. Thanks for visiting and posting. I look forward to the game against the defending champs. It should be a great game. Roll Tide!

Great to hear from a level-headed SU fan. I had come to the conclusion from reading your boards that the bulk of the fans were more arrogant about far less than the Cardinal bunch. From some familiarity with upstate (and one degree from a university located in the Empire State), it's been all I could do to keep from posting: "ORANGE IS THE COLOR OF RUST!"

Welcome nyucuse. I agree that this game may come down to the last possession as five of our last six games have. DiamondDust is right; Auburn fans have the worst inferiority complex and I'd be surprised if anything you read on a UMD board is worse.

Thanks....but regarding the "more arrogant about far less than the Cardinal bunch", not quite sure what you are getting at? Basketball or schools? I consider myself an extremely fair-minded fan, as I try to never look at things with orange-tinted glasses, but to be honest, Stanford doesn't hold a candle to SU in terms of hoops tradition. Even this year, I would take their record with a grain of salt as the Pac-10 was quite weak. Nontheless, it is damn impressive to lose only 1 game over the course of an entire season. They have been good for about 10 years... but if you are talking academics, or locale, no question its hard to top Stanford....

best of luck in the game. If you do beat us, I hope you could pull off the upset of UCONN.

I guess the saying "better to be lucky than good", would apply to Stanford this past year. They won some games on miracle last minute finishes.

On the same token, Bama's last two loses have come in overtime on last second shots after blowing big leads. But on the flip side, our last two wins have come after last second misses by the opposing teams.

Has our luck evened out? Or are we good enough to win? Just got to play the game I suppose.

Lets jump it up! RTR!!!!!!!!!

I was speaking of BB, of course. No one can hold a candle to Stanford's arrogance over academics. I went back and stole a look at a couple of your boards - just to check my sanity, you know - and it's clear that we are, in the collective minds of your boards, a mere gnat to be brushed out of the way of your progress to the FF and the NC. BS, I call. You will struggle Thursdays night, and, who knows, you may even lose the game.

Hello Tidefans,

Obviously, another 'Cuse fan coming in to talk hoops. I agree with my fellow Orangemen, 'Bama is a team that not many from Upstate are taking lightly. Congrats on the win over a tough Stanford team. Looks like your tough schedule paid off come tourney time.

From what I've read, it sounds like you have two top dogs as we do. I'm confused about the 3-point shooting though. I've heard in some places that it is sub-par, but others that it is best in the SEC. Which is it?

Anyway, look forward to a battle come Thursday....go Orange!

Well, if you really aren't taking the Tide lightly, you better go back and post on the SU boards and balance the 99.5% of the posters expecting a cakewalk. I've never seen such bluster from a 1.5 pt. favorite in my life. As for 3 pt. shooting, we led the SEC with 38.4. Our leader is the sixth man, Emmitt Thomas at 45%. We've had two bad games at it in the NCAA, but that's all the talking heads have seen, hence the confusion (but by some unbelievable stroke of luck, we seem to have won, anyway). I look for a breakout 3 pt. game against SU, since averages have a habit of leveling out to historic norms...

if you want an indication of our 3 pt shooting, i'd go through box scores of individual
games.... to see the fluctuation.....when we have 2 or 3 hitting, watch out....

We had a game earlier this season where Emmitt Thomas, Shelton and Winston were all stroking it, and it's a Beautiful Thing.

I had a long talk this morning with one of our admin, TerryP, on my vast basketball knowledge. Sorry about the computer monitor Terry.

I'm just glad we made it to the Sweet 16 and am really hoping we can finally advance to the Elite 8. I will be watching for sure.
