Link: Gueye to Transfer

Just my opinion, mind you, but I think losing Engstrom for the season hurt as bad as losing Steele for the shorter amount of time. If for no other reason, Carl was improving and would have continued to get better and better as the season went on, and actually would have given us solid minutes in the post as a difference-maker. I don't mean 15 pts, 10 boards, but better than what we got from a quality standpoint. Looking forward to seeing him healthy, as he was not necessarily a turnover waiting to happen.

I agree. Engstrom was just beginning to show signs that the light has finally come on for him. He set the best hard screens and could protect the rim. Unless one of the freshman are just to good not to be in the rotation, I expect he will get the most minutes a center. BTW, he is several inches taller than Moussa.

I really haven't seen player-bashing here. I know it's a fine line between legit criticism, but we simply can't take the position that there can't be any negative comments about players. "Bashing" is something like "That ___ couldn't catch a pass if he had twenty fingers" or worse. I'm not going to inhibit comment about any player - or ex-player's - abilities, so long as it's couched in civil language and I haven't seen anything to the contrary in this thread.

Gueye also is quoted in the release.

"I really enjoyed my time at Alabama," he said. "People have been very supportive during my two years here. Since I have my degree, I just decided I wanted to leave and try and continue to get better. I love my coaches and teammates – they helped me get better. I have nothing but great memories here and I am grateful for my decision to come to the University of Alabama."

I did not read this, nor did I know that he had already graduated. Sorry Moussa.

I really think that this was a mutual decision between Grant and MG. I think with some people coming in there was not going to be any room.

I'm glad to see he has earned his degree. That helps us in terms of our APR and helps him in life.

I wish him well.

The crazy thing is that if we some how find a way to use all of our available scholarship this Spring we will only have 1 scholarship to use of the 2014 recruiting class. We'd basically miss out of the best class of recruits the state of Alabama has had in years.

2 star, 4 star or 5 star, who knows? Trey Burke was a 3 star. I really think basketball is hard to gauge as far as recruits. We have a bunch of young players and people want to win now.

Keywords, best recruiting class the "state of Alabama" has had. :D LOL. All jokes aside, I want William Lee in Tuscaloosa. I think Coach Grant does too. He's been recruiting him for years. I'm not overly excited about Norris. I look at Coleman, Haas, Lee, and Norris as a throwback type of class. This is a class you could recruit and by the time they graduated they would have been contributors to the program. That was in a time before instant gratification. Fans would be ready to run those guys out of town if they aren't walking double doubles from day 1.

Well, at least he is leaving with a degree. He may want to consider putting that degree to good use............now.

Earle has it right. Try as he might, he is playing against guys who grew up playing BB, and they ate his lunch. Too bad.........we all had high hopes.

But, you have to admit........watching him get 2 fouls, in less than a minute, and the "Huh.......hey, what?" look was entertaining. As long as we won.

Best wishes, to him. Seems like a good guy. Hope all works out well.
