I know. However, I've heard enough people call wallpapers screen savers (I still haven't figured out what they call screen savers) that I expected that's what he meant.
Working in computers, I've heard some good ones.
My favorite one is when people call the computer (tower, desktop, box, whatever) the modem. This one is especially confusing on the phone.
The best version of that was when one little old lady came in "having problems with her ammodium".
Had another guy ask about the "new pendulum" processors.
Had a lady get angry with me because I couldn't figure out what problem she was having when she described it like this:
"I wanted to upgrade my internet connection, so I got on the internet to download a new modem. When I downloaded it, though, I accidentally installed it on the hard drive instead of under the motherboard, and now the internet is completely broken!"
I had no clue where to even start with that one.
Oh and, last year, I had a lady who called to ask if we could put the new Vista on her computer since her grandson said she needed it. I told her we could, if the hardware would support it. It had to be a fairly new computer, though. She assured me it was. When she brought it in, it was a 486sx with the Tabs interface running on DOS 5! I almost bought it from her for nostalgia's sake. I couldn't believe the thing was still running.
