Question: How many of you have friends/family who are Auburn fans

My wife's whole family are Auburn grads and fans. Her father had a tough time accepting me as a son-in-law because of my Bama ties. His troubles were compounded when another of his daughters married a TN grad. :PDT_gost: He eventually got over it.

About 25 years ago my wife converted to a staunch Bama fan.

The families of both of my parents come from the aubarn area. Fortunately for me, my father had the good sense to be a Bama fan and converted my mother.

Still, all the aunts, uncles, cousins, etc are barn fans, as is my sister and her barn grad husband.

Of my two best ex-military buddies that I still hang with, one is a big Arky fan, the other a big gator fan.

Plus, I also have to deal with my three daughters, one of whom is a UGA grad, the other two are current UGA students.

I handle them all with little problem, even back when times were lean.

All my family are Bama fans except for my son. He used to be a big Aubarn fan but about mid-way thru Tubby's reign he got mad at Tubbs and Auburn. He does not care much about football now-a-days.

I have lots of aquaintances, but few friends. All of the few are Bama fans.

that kind of fascinates me. i can't even image that honestly. there is no way anyone in my immediate family could ever be an auburn fan or NOT be a Bama fan. like, it's not even a choice.

I know how you feel. I was raised in as strong a Bama family as there could be. Then my brother ran track for Auburn. My died in the wool Bama fan parents suddenly turned. The brother is still all barn, but my parents are starting to come back into the fold. It fascinated me too, but saddened me more :frown:

My baby brother, now a 45-yo, was a devote Bama fan until 1985 when he met a little Tigress that let him astray. Forgive him Lord for he was weak....and still is. He graduated from the barn and now worships the barn......and this is why some species eat their young.

The hx of that is our small HS put out an AA at the barn who my brother idolized. He was a few years older than my bro, and I never really knew him. I was thus considered a bit of a traitor (in my bro's eyes) for not being a fan of the U. of auburn. I got over it, he didn't, in a fashion. For hamony's sake, we haven't discussed our teams much together over the years.

He was the one I had to sit beside at the egregious '72 Iron Bowl. Bleh.

I had dinner last night with good friends - two couples, one AU fans, and the other both MSU grads. We talked for two hours. Life's time is too short to filter friends out by school allegiance. Now, I'd never spend time with some of the obnoxious ones...

You're very right. Many times the only difference I find between say, an Auburn fan, and a Bama fan, is the color they wear during game day. Otherwise I love em to death. Some of our younger friends may have a an issue with that....but they will come around eventually.. However, there are those that just refuse compromise/logic and for those, there is no hope. I don't even enjoy talking football to those pinheads

Two of my Aunts (sisters) in their 70s rarely speak to each other. One is a life time Bama Fan and the other is Auburn. One lives in Northern Alabama and the other Southern Tennessee. My cousins follow their Moms.

One of my Aunts doesn't speak to me, guess which one?

Wow thats pretty intense, I can certainly appreciate not talking to you during the week or day of the game. But taking it that far is intense. Thats why I think football is such a religion to us down here in the South. we take an immense amount of pride in our teams because they represent our hopes and dreams. I've seen College Football played all across the country and nothing approaches College football in the South.

My husband's family are Auburn fans, the whole lot of 'em...only ONE year have we watched the Iron Bowl on television at his parent's house. Don't know about you, but I can not "quietly" watch a live Bama game, while in the stadium or in a recliner at home...it's just not happening. Never been so miserable in my entire life! "Shhhhhh, that's unnecessary" they'd say when UA had the ball and I was cheering "take it to the house!!!" However, the living room would explode when Auburn got the ball....

I got the last word: UA won. And all was quiet in that house.

I'm ashamed to say my father is. He recently got remarried to an AU grad. If I had known, I could have stopped him.
Thank the Lord above I have my little boys trained properly that they're not influenced by them when we go visit.

I shacked up with an Aubie gal back in 94, she had an extra bed in her doublewide trailer! I guess she couldn't refuse my charm.....I have two friends that married Auburn girls and a friend that graduated from Auburn and Bama with a JD. I'm still waiting for this little punk to show his Barner face at the Rockaway Mall. He said some not so nice things about Bama back in 07.....

i know the feeling. my girlfriend is an FSU fan, and we watched one of their games at her parents' house once.....NEVER AGAIN. it was like being in church. everytime my girlfriend would say something, they would ask her to be quiet. it was really strange and uncomfortable

My wife is an MSU fan/graduate but she's begun to follow Bama and like them as long as they aren't playing MSU. Great thing is no matter where that game is played (under normal circumstances) we can attend. It's only 1 1/2 hours to Starkville or Tuscaloosa from where we live.

Also, her brother is an Auburn fan. I still haven't quit figured out why though. He's not obnoxious or unreasonable per se, but he does seem a bit illogical at times. He's been pretty quiet since thanksgiving weekend last year though.
