JMO, but we can't complain about another team's band as long as ours plays Rammer Jammer at the end of games.

It's not that I'm complaining about the band playing Rocky Top; I get it that "to the victor goes the spoils." No one said sports hate had to be rational, though.:D

Re: If Johnny Football the most "hated" opponent in Bama History? If not, who is?

I was sitting next to the UT band when he did that. Will never forgive him

I'm climbing in the Wayback machine. David Langner, yeah the blocked-punt run back guy, is the biggest punk I've ever watched on a football field. An undersized, sucker-punching thug. Google his picture, he even looks the part. The fact that he and Henley were on the same team really changed the way I looked at Auburn football.

ok the results of the poll were disappointing and shows that there are a lot of young uns on here. We played cam newton ONCE. While all the crap around him was annoying, Cam never shoved it in our face. Imagine that kind of coverage on an individual for 3.5 years. They covered him at his friends wedding for god's sake. and when he decided to come back for his senior year you would have thought the man parted the red sea.

I was there when peyton ran to the band and led it in the playing of rocky top. It was the on the intro for espn for a decade!!!! This man is, was, and will always be the most hated opponent. I have never routed for any team that peyton has ever played for. It is not even close.

When I think of opponent that means a whole program to me. As other said the "hate" term for a player trying to win a game doesn't quite compute. I guess if I had to give a MOST opponent it would just be the whole Texas program for me. Probably because the beat us so many times in big games when I was young. Its really close with Notre Dame though.
If I had to narrow it down to a single player like the poll did it would probably be Lamar Thomas or Rohan Marley for me. I have never wanted our team to whip a single group of players more than before that game.

It's not even close for me: Cam. The 2010 Iron Bowl is the most obvious reason. I can't remember being at a game and being so angry at an outcome (and I went to almost every home game during the Shula years). The dislike continues despite our two subsequent national championships mainly because (1) we did not get a chance for revenge (2) the way auburn fans cling to him as if he is still there and might run out of the tunnel at any moment. I can still remember hearing "stop living in the past ......" all through the 90's and 2000's. Though I guess it is another example of the delusion on the plains.

I couldn't vote on this. A heated rivalry is what is good about this sport but to hate someone or team I think is a bit silly. I hate to lose to a rival but certainly do not hate them for being who they are.

For those of you who aren't old enough to remember, I'd have to go with Terry Henley. After we beat the barners 35-0 in 1973, he said to the newspaper reporters in a post-game interview that he hoped Notre Dame would stomp us in the Sugar Bowl. Henley was a typical aubie, with a very nasty attitude toward Alabama. He was also a member of the 1972 AU team that beat us 17-16 in the Punt-Bama-Punt fiasco. Cam comes in as a close second.
I remember hatin' Pat Sullivan, Archie Manning, Spurrier, The 73' Notre Dame tight end that caught the Sugar Bowl pass, yeah and Henley, Tucker Frederickson, all the Widby punters at Tennessee, Herscel Walker, Bo Jackson, Jimmy Sidle, too many to recall.

For me (and my late father), the answer would be the Fulmer/Kramer duo. It is one thing to be a jerk, or to beat your team on the field. What Fulmer and Kramer did was to work behind your backs to try and bring your program down - completely down, if possible - by whatever means necessary. They cast whatever integrity they had to the side and did things that would not have been possible had legal evidentiary rules been in place.

Phat Phil deserves what he's getting now. No one in Knoxville other than some of his punk players (Eryk Ainge, et al.) gives him the time of day any longer. He gets the implied credit for bringing down UThug football to just slightly above the level of Kentucky football. All the bad things that have happened could be rightly attributed to bad karma which he brought upon the program. I hope UThug continues to suffer until every vile finally resigns themselves to the fact that his actions are the cause of the pain and struggles and they heap unbridled hate upon him in blinding torrents. I hope his last days are spent in the misery of knowing that he is reviled by the orange-clad masses. Let it be a lesson to others that would take the low road.

I'm feelin you, brah. I bet you don't like pumpkins, either. Or their snitching dog.

Gotta be Cam Newton. I refuse to even pull for the Panthers or put him on my fantasy team because of the Auburn deal.

I still don't understand the Peyton Manning hate. I was too young to remember him leading the band, but I have seen the video a few times. Personally, I don't see how some have taken so much offense to that, yet were totally fine with Ingram doing the dying gator chop in the '09 SEC championship game. IMO, that was blown way out of proportion. The Mannings are nothing but class, and all three were incredible players.

Manziel, like the Honey Badger, is just an immature brat who needs a good butt kicking. I don't hate him at all, I just want to see him taken down a huge notch.

Hate is a strong word, but as a kid I very much disliked Pat Dye. I wanted Coach Bryant to win his last game vs barn. Many would say Bo Jackson in that era, I for some reason chose Dye. RTR

How many years did any of those hated players roam the other side of the field? Not long enough to measure up to what Phatimus Philabus did to us. The repercussions lasted for years.

So, "other".

Would Luther Davis qualify now ?

Re: If Johnny Football the most "hated" opponent in Bama History? If not, who is?

I was wondering how long it would take before we start a "Most hated former player" poll.

No, this does not belong in blue.

Here's a piece about why Alabama fans hate/don't like Johnny Manziel. Link

I did put "hated" in quotes, so people wouldn't literally "hate" someone -- (heavy sigh) --- but I do appreciate the fact that you didn't vote on this.
