I read in the paper that Tubbs said that, he thought it was clear that Irons was the best RB in the SEC...

While we got our clock cleaned yesterday but I thought Darby had a decent game..

If you look at the quality of AU's offensive line versus ours and realize that Darby got almost as many yards as Irons with fewer carries, I think this statement is still debatable.....

Irons was leading the SEC in rushing coming into the game but his yards per carry was less than Darby and the line he had to run behind was superior.... Irons has been impressive, but I would take Darby anyday.

I think you can make a strong argument either way. Both are great backs, albeit different styles. Irons has had a fantastic year kind of out of nowhere, while Darby has had a great year with defenses knowing what type of back he is. I think its a tossup between the two of them as to best back right now in the SEC. You could probably throw a healthy Joseph Addai from LSU in the mix as well.

Maybe next year will be his year to lead the SEC with a strong O line.

Will be freshman playing again next year. I dont see too many of these current OL keeping their jobs. I can think of 2 that probably will, not counting Nick Walker (te).

I see the sports writers and posters here debate this topic. I can't believe that it is even debatable. There is no way on earth that Irons is as good of a running back as Darby. How can anyone look at how many times Irons gets to carry the ball behind a better offensive line and still barely get more total yards than Darby and debate that Irons is even as good as Darby, much less better than Darby. I have never seen Darby get tired in a game, he only appears to get better the more carries he has, yet he never allowed to carry the ball 30 to 40 times a game like Irons. Without a doubt, Darby would have alot more yardage than Irons if he was allowed to carry the ball 30 times a game.

Comparing the two is like comparing apples to oranges.

Irons is faster and hits harder, running more north south.

Darby is a shiftier runner that can stop in his tracks, switch directions and take off again.

The two just have completely different running styles. In all the categories that Irons is strong, Darby is not as strong in thos areas, and vice versa.

This is a little off topic, but did anybody see that USC game last night? The first time I've been able to watch reggie bush and I was simply amazed. Everytime they gave him the ball I expected him to go go 100 yards. I think he ended up with like 400 something total yards, with 23 carries 300 yards rushing. Bush is by far and away the best play on USC. They lose bad without him last night.

I agree about different styles, but I don't remember seeing Irons get many yards after contact. All year I had heard that he was a punishing runner but Darby broke MANY more tackles than Irons. It also makes it easier to run north-south when you don't get touched until you are 4 yards upfield with a full head of steam. On the plays that Bama's D-line squeezed the holes just a bit, Irons didn't do much of anything. Darby is MUCH better, as evidenced on the swing pass where he juked A. Williams out of his jock and stiffarmed T. Williams into the turf. Those are the Barn's two best LBs, are they not? Any time Roach or Ryans got a hand on Irons, he was done. Roach even met him in the hole once and decleated him. I didn't see Irons make any plays comparable to that in the game. Now against Ball St. and WKU, that might be another story.

Bush ended up with over 500 APY...

Sick, just sick.

Heh Irons couldn't carry Darby's jock strap, case closed.
Umm, ok.

Both awesome backs, and I'm glad we have Darby, but if you think we wouldn't be on top of the world having Kenny Irons, you're either lying or your hatred for agbarn is clouding your judgement...

How's that for a run-on sentence?
