Nice quote. I would still rather have a 5-star that has a willingness to work and contribute to a team and happens to love his brother to death over a 2-star that needs to be spoon fed for 2-3 years.

But, we will take them however we can get them.
Nice comeback, and I agree. Keenan might want to play with his brother, but that certainly don't mean he wouldn't have a willingness to work and contribute. Plus he's starting 3 *s more advanced.

While you're entitled to your opinion, IMO it does NOT matter. Here's why. If you will look at last year's starters that won a NC, start counting up the guys like Corey Reamer, Javier Arenas, Eryk Anders, Mike Johnson, Drew Davis, etc. They all had one thing in common - none were very highly recruited out of HS, but in CNS's systems they not only found a niche, they contributed HEAVILY.

While I probably wouldn't have said it under CMS's regime, I'd rather have a 2-star kid with a willingness to work and contribute to a team than a 5-star guy who possibly is more interested in getting a scholly for his brother than play for a winner. Saban can and WILL do better with a lower-rated player over the long haul... just ask one of the above guys.
I think we know as much about his current motivation as we do about his final decision. Before "brothergate", KA was considered by his coaches and analysts as a hard working kid with exceptional talent. By all accounts he loved Alabama and even tried to commit last year.

For all we know he still wants to come to Tuscaloosa, work his tail off, make the players around him better and play with his brother if possible. If CNS makes that happen, I think we can all live with it.

For those posters who are trying to rationalize why it doesn't matter if we get Allen or not, please stop. If he does not come to the capstone, it is a huge loss. He is that good, and he is irreplaceable. It would take 4 Smiths and 5 Menzies to make up for him, and none of them would be able to take him one-on-one.
Perhaps your version of the English language is simply beyond my limited capabilities of interpretation. I apologize.

I don't have too much trouble with his English but can someone explain his math to me?

This is my assumption here, but I don't think Menzie can be considered a replacement for Allen if he decides to de-commit. If I understand it correctly, Allen is slated to come in to play WR ... not CB.

If anything, Menzie may be in play just in case Belue isn't able to be a part of this class due to grades ... OR that an extra DB has now been considered a priority for this class. All of this is speculation so right now I'm just looking forward to seeing what happens Wednesday.

FWIW, when he was interviewed at the AA game, wearing his Bama hat, he self-identified as a DB.

My question is this. If the whole thing about playing with his brother is the only thing going on here, why didn't Keenan commit to Buffalo months ago? You can't tell me that Buffalo wouldn't have taken him, and at the time they would have been on the same team. I realize the coaching change is why his brother is looking to transfer, but Keenan committed to us before that. I am hoping that he is just going out to help and support his brother while he makes his choice and will still come to the Capstone.
One of the most logical posts in this entire thread.

Again I hope he signs with us. We all know this is where he wants to be and would if not for family ties and loyalty. No doubt where ever he ends up his talent speaks for it's self and he will contribute almost from day one. The bright spot is he is not looking at a Florida, Texas or another one of the teams that could win a tittle. With this new generation I am not sure it is as important to the kids to win a championship as it is to us the fans. Superstars like Julio are rare indeed who put team success ahead of individual highlights and accolades. I truly believe that this kid could be the best player on the best team in college if he follows his heart and comes to The Capstone. Come signing day if he signs with us I will be pumped up for him. If for some reason he does not, I will wish him the best and wonder what might have been and cheer on numbers 14 and 15 as the Tide Rolls On during his college career.

That's the kind of players Coach Bryant loved.

OK, so I'm too lazy to read through this whole thread. Do we think he stays or goes?

Seattle I never said he was better, but do feel he is darn close to as good. What is it you have seen in film that leads you to believe KA is a prince and Menzie is common. Have you watched film truely are are you going on stars and stats? He is shorter but has a better fram than KA. Menzie is faster also. He has the potential to be a lock down corner at 6'0 even. Two years instead of three (KA will leave in 3 IMHO)is the biggest ? I see. We have 2 corners already here that are equal if not better. KA is a self proclaimed DB. If he plays reciever then I agree he will be more of a asset given out WR not developing as quickly as anticipated. Menzie is a talent and everyone is selling him short because of stars (which are nonsense anyway). A player, is a player, is a player. Have you ever noticed DB never get beat on highlight reels? Menzie is in phase on a higher frequency whereas KA uses raw athleticism to make up for being out of phase. Menzie is very physical in press coverage and displays a knack for disrupting routes with excellent hips. KA is better in year one than Menzie is in year 3 but very close. The styles are apples and oranges. Two different types/styles od DBs honestly. If KA comes in as a reciever I have no doubt he will contribute and thrive immediatly opposite Julio. If this is your angle then I totally agree. I would love to have both as stated before, but the fact that Menzie is considered a second class player is beyond me. Menzie will thrive somewhere I promise. :)

I don't understand Bama fans mentioning our WR "woes". We brought in several highly touted WR recruits the last couple years and are getting some good ones this year. Just because they are behind, and don't seem to have the potential of, Julio and Allen doesn't mean they won't be great receivers for Bama. Some are now jrs.'s but most are will be RS Fr or RS Soph's. They still have plenty time to reach their potential.
Allen would be great to have but a good and more experienced WR should be able to take up most of the slack.

my point between Allen and Menzie was as follows: (sorry for getting off topic) I believe he (KA) could come in and make a noticable impact at WR. Much more so than at DB were I feel we are LOADED.

BTW your argument that is being made HITIDE is the same one I made for Menzie vs Allen. I feel as though people are being unfair to Menzie.

We do have as much WR talent as any team in the country right now. But we're a conservative offense, and sometimes the wideouts jobs is to block for an entire quarter at a time, which makes it hard for them to get into the flow of the game.

I think everyone coming back, including a 2nd year starter at QB, we should be able to open it up more and allow our wideouts a better opportunity to show how good they are.

menzie is faster? really? i guess so.

i have watched stuff, and while i have just seen highlights, i think KA is much better. im not saying he is gonna be a lebron type, but to all you people saying you'd rather have two good players instead of one unreal one and a mediocre one, would you rather have lebron, or everybody else on the cavs, as an example. i, for one, would take lebron. ka wont make or break, but it wouldn't be good to lose this seemingly unstoppable player

Not really a fair comparison... Basketball has 5 players and sometimes only ONE makes a play, whereas football has 11 and typically almost all of them play a role. Outside of a Peyton Manning argument (or any amazing QB), the argument doesnt hold water.

On the other hand, to answer your situation/question there, I say... who knows? None of us know until we've seen them play and develop. Until then, its all opinion on a message board.
