:BigA: How ironic some of these posts are!!! Only last year on this board fans were trying to compare Miles with Saban! If LSU hired Miles when they hired Saban then Miles would have never won a national championship and would have been lucky to field a top ten team!

To be fair, last year LSU was coming off of a BCS championship. Both he and CNS had one in hand. The two seasons of underperforming from LSU had not happened yet. Last year and this year have shown Les to be LESS than CNS - by a great margin...

The LSU fans have been desperate to make that comparison. We never thought he was Sabans equal.

I do not think Michigan would want him now. His opportunity to return to the "Big House" has passed him by.

Yup, he spurned Michigan once. It's doubtful they'd give him a second invite. Many Michigan folks are still hating on Jim Harbaugh because he made some comments about Michigan's academic standards a few years ago. I think Rich Rod is going to humble the Michigan program soon.

Holy cow. In that video, Miles looked like a drunk on Cops trying to talk his way out of a DWI arrest.

All that stammering seems to point to one of two inescapable, disturbing conclusions. Either these coaches can't maintain focus under pressured game situations which will occasionally occur or Miles made a boneheaded decision and is trying to lie his way out of taking responsibility for it.

He should be canned just like Shula should have been canned, but he was given a contract extension. The Hat will survive and have another mediocre season next year and get run.

They should make the move while they still have a great talent pool. I think the longer they wait the worse it will get.

If or when Miles leaves or gets canned LSU will have no problem getting a top notch coach down to Baton Rouge. It is the only SEC team that basically has zero competition in recruiting within the state. They get the pick of the litter every year. They have talent galore coming from the state.

They could very easily get a top notch coach in there.

Agreed, but, unlike a lot of others on here, I think he might get the boot if the who's lose to the hogs. His incompetence is now showing up regularly under the national spotlight (and people who think this guy is a great HC amuse me), and I just don't think the who nation will tolerate being embarassed anymore. And he is an embarassment, even worse than Dubose; I can't remember Dubose making a decision (or not making one) that could ever rival the stupidity of Miles' performance last night in the last 20 seconds or so.
Yeah, yeah, he won a BCS championship; first team I can ever remember winning a championship (without a playoff system) with 2 losses. It won't happen again, either, at least not anytime soon. But whoever thinks he is a "good" HC, with the talent he has and the job he has done, well, then I guess we just have different concepts about what constitutes a "good" HC.
Personally? I hope he stays with the who's forever. Let them give him a "lifetime" contract, like Bowden. BTW, doesn't his contract stipulate that he has to get paid at least one dollar more than the highest-paid coach in the SEC? Think the who's are getting their money's worth?
Sorry for the rant. Let's go roll Toomer's Corner...with crimson tp...

I think he's definitely back for 2010.

If LSU doesn't compete closely for the West in 2010 then I think he's in real trouble.

Personally, I don't think he's a NC calliber coach but if he can get them jakced up and win their bowl game this year and maybe beat Bama or Florida next year then I think he can cruise through 2011 and maybe 2012.

He still does have a very good bowl record. But he has to beat somebody next year.

My opinion, FWIW, never interrupt your enemy while he is making a mistake. Don't wish them the best of luck, they sure don't wish you the same. ;)

I remember that! The famous "Miles has a better record at LSU than Saban" lunacy, along with the nervous twitching each time we mentioned that Miles had a head start with a full cupboard of Saban's talent. That kind of idiotic thinking is what led to the huge contract that will thankfully keep him at LSU for a few more years.

Well, the truth about ole Hat is finally comming to the surface. He inherited a great team when he came to LSU and, with some luck, fell into a national championship, even with two losses. As someone posted previously, he would never, never have that championship if Saban has not preceded him. No way.

Still, I think he still has some time left at LSU before they become completely disgusted with the guy. Regardless of the circumstances, he was the coach when they won their last championship. That will be worth a little patience with the PTB. The fans of any SEC team that rises to the top of the conference for a couple of years suddenly start expecting/demanding that their team remain there forever. This is exactly what has happened to LSU. The same could be said for Auburn and Ole Miss during that last six or seven years. The problem is that everyone in the SEC can't win ten or eleven games every year. In LSU case, I think they are headed for a severe reality check. The hat still has to further dismantle them before they wave goodbye.

Personally? I hope that "dismantling" takes at least 2 or 3 more years...I just do not see it happening. Who fans (at least the alums I know, the younger ones), are NOT patient, especially when Bama is winning.

I voted 'no', but I'm thinking that in light of the Ole Miss disaster, and the after-action reports, it might be their best move. It would be a shocker; but he has damaged his image so deeply that it may do long-term harm to the university.

sad

Bingo! Every fan base that has tasted success, no matter how briefly, believes they deserve a coach that will return them "back where we belong." LSU has found that coach. Equilibrium has occurred.

Skip Bertman, if he's smart, will call Bill Martin sometime today and offer the services of a certain Head Coach.

I wonder what the Over/Under is on the time of the call.

All fan bases are impatient, especially the young ones. I can assure you that prior to CNS the Bama fan base was very impatient especially when AU and LSU were winning.
