There is always the possibility of "I have reviewed the evidence. While there is sufficient evidence to indict, these type of cases are hard to prosecute, and gain a conviction. I am not eager to waste $$$$$$ of the taxpayers' money on a case that will probably end in acquittal. Therefore.....................blah, blah, etc."

From reading the FSU boards they feel that Meggs is dragging this out because he want's to arrest Winston who is an athlete and minority.

On our board it seems to be the opposite feeling of him dragging it out.

It went from "perhaps the end of this week" to "early next week" to "not before Thanksgiving" (yay Florida game participation).


On the docket: "We need more time after the Thanksgiving holiday to build the evidence" (yay ACCCG participation) to "many witnesses have left town for Christmas break at FSU" (yay Heisman ceremony) to "too many people are on vacation for the christmas/new year holiday to finish our investigation" (yay national title game).


Winston won't be charged until mid-January, just you wait.

From reading the FSU boards they feel that Meggs is dragging this out because he want's to arrest Winston who is an athlete and minority.

On our board it seems to be the opposite feeling of him dragging it out.

That's very odd! I thought us minorities are arrested on the spot. It has nothing to do with that.

That makes no sense. Why drag it out if he wants to make the arrest? If he wanted to make the arrest, he already would have.

I think he doesn't want to make the arrest because it's a big football town and his life would be made miserable.

My good friend (Attorney and UF Grad) in Tallahassee states that there are rumors, pictures, etc.... running wild in Tally. Evidently, there is supposed to be a picture of both of Winston and Victim together the day after in town, pictures of the act itself, etc..... All of this is going on at the same time the legal circus is happening. He has nothing to do with the case - FYI.

Imagine the atmosphere that Meggs is working in at this moment. Not to give an excuse, but think about it.

Over on Noles 24/7 they've gone as far as posting Meggs Email and contact info so members can harass him.

I take the opposite view. If he was going to drop it, why not go ahead and drop it?

I think he's just delaying until after the championship. Also, he can't drop it with this much media scrutiny. They need to at least look like they're investigating.
