Odd. To rehab, go through spring and fall camp and one game only to decide to hang them up?

This is really strange, gotta be more to it than his kids.

Obviously, if this is true, Kenny is being an adult facing up to his adult responsibilities. I hope he can still play football and take care of his kids but I have to respect his decision. Good luck to Kenny in the future.

Not necessarily - I think we was raised by a single mother and with the time requirement of a football player at Alabama, he might have realized he couldn't be the father he wants to be. If that's the case, I've got nothing but respect for him.

I agree, I don't see anything wrong with his decision. He wants to make his kids his priority. We have no idea what is going on in his home life.

I thank him for his time on the team and wish him luck.

If that is really the story, I agree completely, kudos to him for it. By the way, he has already graduated according to this:

I really hope this is about his family and not some spat with the coaches. We'll have to take his word on it, just seems like really strange timing.

A whole lot more passes need to be thrown to keep all these talented WRs happy. A healthy Bell has a shot at the NFL. He could be a great Dad in three more months and have a chance to make pro money.

Has he graduated? Wish him well.
I am fairly certain he earned his degree last year. It is a bit strange for timing; but best of luck to him in whatever he does if he follows through with his decision to walk away.

Maybe he can be persuaded to change his mind. Arenas wanted to do the same at a point in his career...
I hope he is persuaded to change his mind. I really like seeing the ball thrown to #7 and #2. Well, also #22, #83, et al.

If we have injuries this year like last year, we'll need all the receivers.

I don't know the reasons but Kenny sure does. I'm sure he completely understands that he could wait about three/four more months and have a shot at an NFL contract. Even if it is a free agent contract. So "money' must not be what he means by taking care of his kids.

I'd rather be dirt flo po and have my family intact than be swimming in a bed of riches and be apart.

Thanks to #7-KB. Enjoyed watching him. Will be missed and I wish he and his children all the best.

FWIW. Went over to ITAT out of curiousity. They're already on point with this one. So sad.

He may already have a good job offer and the money now for his kids is his best option not a maybe 3 or 4 months from now. Who knows but as the saying goes a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush. Good luck Kenny if in deed this is your choice. :)

Yikes, I wish I could be as positive as many of you on here. I don't know; it can't be a good thing him leaving. Just can't see that. :conf2:

Of course I wish him nothing but the best! But to rehab to this point just to hang it up, I just don't know.

I could have sworn that I read on ITAT that Alabama has some type of charitable organization specifically set up to prevent situations like this. Where is the REC when you need them to cover some bills for one of our speediest receivers for a few more months?
