LANK/NIL...

I miss the old days.
I’m really glad I got to watch the last great era of college football. It was a heck of a run and CNS made it awesome for Bama fans. I have great memories and all the games are on YouTube. I revisit them from time to time. I watched most of the 2008 season a few months ago. The Clemson game was a welcome back party for the Tide. Well worth a watch.

Truth be told, if the runner goes down there, JM should be called for tripping.

Sorry I specifically meant he literally can't be benched for poor performance at QB.

Well I mean he theoretically could but CKD won't do it.

He could throw 10 pick 6's before halftime.

Still....NOT COMIN OUT OF THE GAME for any other QB on the team.

I've been to two of the basketball home games. Each time they show students up on the big screen, they almost always flash the Lank hand gesture. It feels like, I don't realize how bad this looks, but all of my friends are doing it.

Its a problem that wont be easily snuffed out. Its deep in the student body. We will need The Machine to snuff it out...

I’ll be the first to admit I have no idea how you solve this. But, if it’s true - and CKD knows it is true the only way to fix it is rip it out. Coach this team hard for the Iron Bowl, prepare them like crazy and play to win. Then when it’s over, win or lose - “fire” the head of the collective and any other players that want to leave with him. Exorcise the problem and remove, and let the chips fall where they may. Ugly but necessary if true.

Ironically, the more players get tied to NIL, the closer my interest in college football gets to nil.
It's kind of like being on the HOA Board of Directors. For the first 20 years I lived in my condo, I served on the HOA board - 15 years as President. Then I decided I'd had enough and turned it over to others to worry about. I found I enjoyed living here much more once I didn't know about every little problem on the property.

Maybe it's time to step back and just watch the games and not worry about every problem. Let someone else sort it all out...since I can't anyway.

Those impeachments at Del Boca Vista can be rough but helpful in the long run.

It’s inescapable though.

I believe it has had huge negative impacts on the quality of play. And it’s a big reason why there has seemed to be so much parity in the game the last few seasons. It’s not that the blue chippers have been spread across the country, it’s that there are no great teams anymore because the players are transferring all over the place and they are more worried about doing commercials and podcasts than developing their craft.

I was far more engaged and followed the game much more closely during the DuBose and Shula years than I have the past two seasons. And you couple the absolute clown show of what the referees have become with NIL/portal, I have all but opted out.
