We have some excellent candidates this season. Texas had not allowed a touchdown pass over 20 yards this season until Saturday. RGIII put two on them. On the season, he averaged 36 yards per touchdown pass. He can throw the deep ball with a feathery touch, hitting receivers in stride. It is a bit unfair to hang the losses totally on him. The Baylor defense is not in the top 100 in the nation so the offense is under pressure to score nearly every time they have the ball. Baylor put over forty points on Mack Brown and Bob Stoops and then put 66 on Tuberville. Those three are veteran coaches who do not like to get shown up but they were unable to stop Baylor. With less than a minute to play and no timeouts, RGIII went the length of the field on Oklahoma. Remember that Baylor picks up the scraps like RGIII after Oklahoma, Texas, and TAMU have their pick. No other major team gave RGIII the chance to play QB.
Trent is a great back. The problem is that Alabama didn't put the season in Trent's hands until after the LSU game. It has never been about awards at Alabama, it has been about winning. Any reasonable Tide fan understands that and I think Trent understands that. Trent has made a lot of individual sacrifices to be part of a great team. The payoff comes in New Orleans.
