ADMIN NOTE: Malware message...

I spent $120 Saturday trying to get rid of whatever I've caught, at the computer repair shop we pulled up Tidefans & it was trying to reload malware on my computer.

I keep getting a page (usually a financial page) with a window that pops up. I can't get it to go away. Left clicking the x in the top right corner doesn't work. I have to shut down the computer to get it off the monitor screen.

I guess it's back to the repair shop again.

I have a Mac, but I use Firefox, which still blocks the site as does Google searches. Switch to Safari (I never use, doesn't work right all the time) BUT it is allowing the site to work, yea! Now I have alot of reading to get caught up on.

Firefox keeps shutting down saying this site is full of malware. IE works only occasionally. Safari kept saying I might lose my browser if I kept visiting this site. I think the internet gods are after me. I've never been threatened by a browser before. lol

I got it today and had to adjust my security settings to get it to stop. I reported that this isn't an attack site several times.

I'm still getting it and I have logged onto tidefans.com using Firefox, Safari, and Google Chrome.

As I've said in the other threads, everyone should be getting it in every browser except IE and Opera until Google reviews the site and clears it. This could be days...

I'm now getting on board with no issues with Firefox.

Tons of issues prior to this.

Now, all looks normal, no "attack site" stuff at all.

Edit: Damn! I spoke too soon. When I typed the above, I had loged on and off a couple of times and surfed all over the site with no issues. I type the above, then immediately, then "Attack Site" crap starts popping up every time I change pages!

I guess my question is why do people continue to get virus warnings from their AV software? Since I use Firefox and AdBlock, along with Linux sometimes, I don't have that issue. Those who use other clients, AV's, and operating systems are--to some degree--getting alerts from their AV software.

Very strange.

As usual, with this kind of problem, generalities don't help. You need to encourage these other people that you seem to be in contact with to communicate directly with me and the other staff. That means browser, AV, other security software, etc. Only specifics help...

My issue seemed to not really be with Firefox, as all of my browsers were coming up with security messages. I had just downloaded the 2011 update to AVG Free when I started getting "attack site' warnings. I fiddled around with the settings to AVG Linkscanner, and all is well. Haven't seen the warning since.

Interestingly, the Gogle advisory on Tidefans says that when they visited Tidefans they found;

"Malicious software is hosted on 3 domain(s), including ***,***,***."

Earlier today when I attempted to get onto Tidefans, I got a plain white page with *** repeated all over the page, nothing else.
