Mark Ingram gets robbed for ESPY

I'm sure Mark is more than happy with his Heisman and NC ring. I bet if you asked Wall he'd rather have a championship too (but that fat contract he's about to sign isn't a bad consolation prize though). ;)

To me it was a 2 horse race from the get go. I don't have a problem with it going to Wall. He has the edge in that football is more of a team sport than basketball.

I'm on the side that doesn't have a problem with Mark not winning, football being more of a team sport. I also don't have a problem with Coach Saban not winning it, although I believe they should divide the categories into pro and college level. My reason being that who is more of a winner than Phil Jackson?

I really don't have a problem with Wall even though he didn't lead his team to the ultimate prize and Mark did. And basketball is an easier sport for one player to be dominant.

Homerism aside, Coach Saban was more deserving. What he accomplished in just his 3rd season with an ever changing roster trumps Phil winning in his 10th season with a mostly static roster. Plus Jackson had an extra advantage in that he was able to add to his roster (Ron Artest) simply by Jerry Buss scratching out a check, while Coach Saban had to develop his additions.

Wall probably couldn't care less about not winning the NCAA..... the only reason he went to UK is because of the NBA rule..... he's a punk (yes, I know, personal opinion only)

Well, if I was in a foxhole in Iraq I'd much rather have Mark at my back than Wall.

I don't agree with this one at all.

sip

Funny you should mention Iraq. I was home on leave and watched the Final Four and don't remember seeing anybody named "John Wall." Nobody in my immediate area has ever heard of John Wall. However, all but one are aware of Mark Ingram.

What a ridiculous show that was. I watched for about 20 minutes. It's all fluff, and I hope (am sure) Ingram has no hard feelings.
When they had the umpire that robbed Andres Gallaraga of his perfect game - and Gallaraga himself both come out together to read and introduce the winner of one award, I about gagged. Not because of the sportsmanship gesture, but just how awkward it was, and because neither of them was very intelligible when reading the script.
And when they gave the special sports moment of the year to the US soccer player instead of the skater who lost her mother during the Olympics, I turned off the circus.

Does ESPN decide who wins the awards? Some posters are acting like ESPN decides. My understanding is that the fans vote. Or does ESPN have some input as well?

An Espy is no more prestigious than an award from Wal Mart. I tried to watch it but the stupid "comedy" they injected was more than I could stand. They are way too full of themselves. A two hour pre awards show really?

I know everyone wants to hate ESPN but this one cant really be blamed on them. All ESPN does for the espy's is nominate for the awards. The Awards are selected 100% by fan voting.
The show did not have time to even cover the awarding of female athletes, but they had time for Will Farrel to do his schtick on Mr. Vuvuzela? Poorly done, in my view. The network that relegated Ron Franklin for a sexist comment does not cover women's awards?
The film about the football coach in small-town Iowa was poignant.

Quite an achievement for Andres, seeing how he played first base and has been retired for 6 years. ;)
