Mobile Press Sports writer and talk show host, N. McCready and his co host the new to Mobile, Mr. Black, are in accord that LSU will beat Alabama (and)
go on the represent the West in the SEC Championship game in Atlanta

Mr. McCready, witty as ever, expressed his predictions today on his afternoon
Sports Drive program in Mobile.

I suppose his love for JeMarcus Russell, the real deal, in many of McCready's previous predictions is the reason for his support of the LSU team over Bama.
Mr. Black, also a supporter of this theory seems to follow McCready's lead no matter what the issue.

LSU has proven to be a tough opponet, but the larger than life Russell
is no match for a fast and fired up alabama defensive team determined to remain undefeated. See, everybody has an opinion and if you talk like them you can sound just like them. RTR

I like not being picked for some reason. I don't know why, because I'll whine when we get no Nat'l recognition.

Nothing shuts Neal McCready up better than proving him wrong. He has suggested more than once this week that Auburn and LSU are better than Alabama.

Jamarcus Russell will, one day, be a great SEC quarterback. But he is not that now and it shows. LSU's best assets right now are talented front lines and a decent running back in Joseph Addai. Well, that's what Tennessee brought to Tuscaloosa.

LSU is not playing us in Baton Rouge, under the lights. They are not playing a team with their own inexperienced QB. Nor are they playing a team with undersized LB's and an awful defensive backfield. The game against LSU could be a repeat of the Florida rout.

LSU practically gave that game to Auburn, and Auburn didn't make the plays to win it. Auburn has played two decent teams this year. Once at home, once on the road. They've lost both. They have shown nothing to convince me that they are anything better than a typical, 7-4 Tubby Team.

I believe we've climbed the peak of our schedule. If Bama just takes care of business, doesn't suffer any serious injuries and doesn't make any dumb mistakes, the deal's done.

Well let me be the first to say it.

''Well everyone was pickin miami way back in 1992 and we all know what happened there''. :)

Seriously, we can beat anyone on our schedule. We gotta get a running game going in the next two weeks.

Dear Gulf Coast Tider

I really liked your post on the take of the LSU team
Jamarcus is from my town and he is talented but I liked tha analogy of
his arm being a rifle with sites filed off. He isn't that mobile either. I feel our fast and furious Defense is a match for him. I hope we don't let them jump out ahead. I am toooo old for these close games

You know...

I get a real pleasure out of every time Alabama beats a supposed "media darling" and crushes the hopes and dreams of journalists everywhere. I'm talking us going into a game and completely making the majority of all sports-writers and everything eat the biggest ammount of crow possible.

I remember it happening in 92 when we crushed the almighty Miami Hurricanes.

How I hope it happens this year with Texas or USC. I'd love to see people have to eat their words after that one.

I'm from Mobile, too. ;)

I really don't see LSU as being any better than Tennessee. In fact, at this point in the season I'd put them below UT. Notwithstanding the fact that UT beat them in Baton Rouge, UT came to Tuscaloosa with a better DL, a better OL, a better RB and a more experienced QB.

LSU ranks either well below Alabama or is in a virtual tie with Alabama in every category of SEC statistics:

http://www.secsports.com/new/sports/fbc/05stats/confldrs.htm

Coming to Tuscaloosa will be LSU's first SEC road trip of any consequence. It'll be the first time all season that they've faced an extremely loud crowd and a top ranked defense playing on its own turf. If McCready thinks that team is ready to handle all that AND a healthy Brodie Croyle...

He's dreaming. I like McCready. He's usually objective and always entertaining. But sometimes, I wonder what the missus is putting in his coffee.

Ga. Tech is actually not very good this year. They played ok in the game against the barn, but have been very inconsistent the rest of the year. I would call them mediocre or maybe average.

Loud Crowd at BDS

To think that the crowd is a factor in BDs isn't that just great!
I really don't think LSU will be a close game, and I did at the first of the year, but then I didn't think we would be this tight a team at this point either. We have GOT to generate some offence putting points on the board. Our O line gave Brodie that protection on the 3/8 that got DJ the ball and they can do it again. My money rest soley with this D of ours. Bama by two touchdowns and no Im not smoking anything. RTR

I think this game could go either way. LSU hasn't put together a "complete game" yet, and in spite of that has only lost one game. At some point they'll have at least one "good game" in where they don't play like the keystone cops one half and a football team the next. I got a feeling LSU vs Alabama will be that game.

Does that mean Bama will lose, no. But I don't expect it be anything like the Florida game either. LSU doesn't selectively blitz they constantly blitz and we saw the struggles it caused our offensive line against UT. This game will hinge on our defense and turnovers taken and given.

Defensively, we haven't had one "let down game" on this side of the ball. Sure, we've had some days like Ole Miss but even that they only allowed 10 pts. We haven't had "let downs" where they're resulting in many points. If our defense can continue to play the way they have I think we're looking at win.

But considering our OL situation, if our defense has one of those "let down games" I don't see our offense being able to make up the difference.

LSU Game

I think our defense will be able to force Russell in to making mistakes. He has done it against every good defense he's faced this year except the Barn. The only reason they've won those games is b/c the teams that have forced turnovers couldn't capitalize on the LSU mistakes (Florida and Vanderbilt come to mind). Brodie will make them pay when Jamarcus Russell turns the ball over!

We'll find a way to win! Heart will trump talent in this game, just like the Tennessee game. We play as a team...disciplined and with fire. LSU plays without discipline on both sides of the ball...and I believe that they will implode if we can score on them early in the game and early in the second half!

I woulld also add

Coaching is going to be a major factor
This new guy at LSU hasn't gotten it right yet.
CMS and CoachK are in control -Disciplined coaching staff on a mission
LSU is a team lacking discipline- No night game, no Bayou advantage
no way they win.

If they bring constant pressure, Bama will smoke'em. That max protect package is what gave Brodie the time to make the 43-yard pass to DJ, and Brodie's hot read of an Ole Miss blitz is what sprang KD on a 48-yard TD.

If Bama gets up by two TD's because of LSU's gambling on defense, you can go ahead and make your reservations for Atlanta--because Auburn will not beat Georgia.

Assuming we scrape by Sissy State, the LSU game is for all the marbles in the West.

I don't think LSU is gonna be quite the cake-walk some of y'all see. They are a verrrry talented team, better than tutorsee in my opinion and will be extremely hard to beat if they ever put it all together. Les Miles reminds me of a jack-leg mechanic trying to fine tune a high performance racing engine, sooner or later, through trial and error, he might get it right. I hope it's after we play them.

My thoughts exactly. I can't beleive how many on here are taken LSU as a "put it in the books win" when before the Ole Miss game WE ALL were discussing how much playing time the subs would get and what a hornets nest we walked into.

LSU is ten times as talented as Ole Miss and yet some are looking at them as if they were a doormat. I hope the players and coaches aren't. This team has "dangerous" written all over it. I don't care what ya say, ANY TEAM that can turn the ball over FIVE TIMES in a game and still wins scares me. Any team that can play as inconsistent as LSU and still win scares me. It tells me that things (those uncontrollable things like "lucky bounces) mostly go their way. A trend that is hard to stop if you're an opponent.

LSU offense = crap.
Hmmm. Since LSU is ahead of Alabama in total offense and way ahead in scoring offense, despite playing four ranked teams, I assume there will be two crappy offenses at the game.

Jamarcus is definitely a sophomore with room to improve and is still improving with every game. Brody is far more polished, as one would expect. Nevertheless, they each sport identical 60.5 percent completion rates.

Really? I read the list and LSU leads Bama in Scoring O, Rushing O, Rushing D, Total O, Punting, Punt returns, Sacks, Sacks against, Red Zone Defense, 4th down conversions, PAT kicking, and KO coverage.

But Bama does lead in Scoring O, Passing O, Passing D, KO returns, Total D, Pass eff., Pass eff D, 1st downs, opponent 1st downs, Penalties, 3rd downs, and Time of possession

Another thing about LSU: They're making far too many mistakes/turnovers right now.
Ain't that the truth. LSU has lost 11 fumbles this year and it has kept us from being undefeated at this point. But LSU is improving, having no fumbles or interceptions against Auburn. Turnovers and penalties are LSU's Achilles heel, killing way too many drives. Fortunately these problems are fixable. Les has two weeks to get it fixed or Bama could make them pay for it.
