Re: Could this be close to the truth?

AS THE Tide is my second favorite team, behind UGA, am hoping it's not Spurrier or Nutt. Just be changing again in 4-5 years.

To me, Paul Johnson is the obvious best choice.

It sure as all hell isn't Nutt.

Re: Could this be close to the truth?

Not going out any further on the proverbial limb, but things seem to have changed a great deal, although CMS could still end up being '07's coach. If we miss on the couple of A-listers I have hopes for, then even the next tier, Grobe and the like, don't really look bad, when you look at what our choices were last time...

Re: Could this be close to the truth?

Ok, this is getting ridiculous. All of the boards are having posters show up and saying that they have heard..... or I got a call and heard.....

Either something is happening or there are a lot of people out there laughing their tails off at making the bama fans crazy. I swear, I don't have the patience for this:smile: But it is keeping me glued to this stupid computer!

Fair enough. Thanks for the info. Earlier in the week it seemed the money was CMS would stay. I think the cont'd silence in itself speaks volumes!! The AD dept knows what the speculations are.

Re: Could this be close to the truth?

I'll agree with that, at least we are more open minded this time around.
The last list only had Williamson,Shula and Croom on it.

Re: Could this be close to the truth?

There is so little information being shared at this time. I believe there is very little work being done on the coaching situation this weekend due to the hollidays. I have heard, and can't confirm, there will be a team meeting between Shula and the players on Sunday. This meeting could be for any number of reasons. Bowl, no bowl, resignation, re-alignment, etc.

Sorry but this is all I can add to the discussion.

I heard this as well. The odd thing about the meeting is it is scheduled for 9:00 PM tomorrow night. Or at least that is what I was told....

Re: Could this be close to the truth?

Got to second Rich. I just don't think there'll be much movement over the rest of the weekend. I don't have anything else to add either, at this point.

Re: Could this be close to the truth?

Late evening would make since. By that time (maybe not that late though) all the players would have been back from the holidays---some maybe with longer trips may not be back until late in the evening, therefore 900pm. A meeting could be many things--Farewell, or workout schedules/practice schedules for bowl prep that start on Monday. I am willing to bet Monday is a big day in Bama football no matter what happens--Coach Shula is announced as retained or fired. Tuesday would be a new start for either CMS or a New Bama Head Coach!!

Re: Could this be close to the truth?

I think this article or link is EXACTLY what is going on this weekend and what has
transpired in the last week or so. One thing's for sure, if a new HC has been hired or has agreed to come to Tuscaloosa, the truth can't be kept from seeing the light of day for long. This coming week should be VERY interesting.

You took the words out of my mouth..

disagreement on a coaching change!

I disagree we should make a change UNLESS, there is serious conversation with a big name HC or a big time up and commer along the lines of richt or meyer! why change now and have to do it again in 3 or 4 years, we would then be back where we started from, no better than after CGS stepped down, which is where this really started from!! one bad hire after another.

Re: disagreement on a coaching change!

I'll agree that change for the sake of change is a stupid philosophy, but change for the sake of the team is a worthy cause. The lack of discipline that we have seen will leave scars if it is not addressed...

Re: disagreement on a coaching change!

We have passed the point of no return now. If we bring Shula back then he is basically a lame duck coach, which means no good assistants will come coach for him (oh wait a minute, his plan was to keep all of his assistants) and it means no recruits will want to play for a staff they know is gone after next year. We don't need a homerun coach for this to be a success. There are a lot of good coaches out there.

Re: Could this be close to the truth?

His teams are in the game until the final whistle blows, and that goes for every single game they play, regardless of the opponent.

Sat, Sep 2, 2006: Southern Cal 50, Arkansas 14.

USC must have ripped off 5 quick touchdowns in the fourth quarter to pull away from the Hogs. This was a substantial improvement from the previous year, when the Trojans apparently scored 8 last-minute touchdowns to squeak by the Hogs 70-17.

Nutt is a tool.
