my ignorance of some elements of the sport of bball has truly been exposed with this team. CMG tried to warn us but didn't do a good job of preparing us for what we would see. it was brought to my attention during this game that without a solid bench you can't afford to apply pressure for long periods of time (because of stamina as well as potential foul trouble). we do not have a solid bench and i still need to know why you would bring in a juco player and not play him? JF is easily our best defensive player although shot selection is not one of his strong suits (one could argue that he's just doing what he sees ES and others do far too often).

the season does not look like it will be a great one with this being an overwelming issue. sure we'll win alot of em and we'll blow a couple of them out but with this stretch of 6 out of 3 of the first 9 on the road only sets us up to appear as if we've turned things around and finished the season strong.

i'm ****ed so i'm rambling but i'm preparing myself for a sunday in late Feb. where i'll be glued to the set trying to figure out why we are a 7 seed playing out west.

Well CMG did say before this season and last that we didn't have a very good team.

I still say it comes down to hustle and effort.

If this team wants it, they can go get it.

I need time to think...

about this one. I just don't know what's going on. It's like a bunch of different players crawled into the skins of our guys and took the court. With a reversal of this kind, usually there are internal problems, but I haven't heard of them yet. Color me puzzled... :conf2:

It seems to me that the new strategy of other teams is to intimidate, maul, mug, manhandle Shelton.........

In turn it gets ES frustrated, then Kennedy starts to play Point Forward, and Chuck starts taking 18 foot jumpers.........

If they are willing to give us Jamereo......take it......apparently he's ready to step up.

I was so annoyed at this, but to be honest when they cut it to 8, and then they called the Charge on CD, the officiating got horrible and it looked like a rugby scrum.........they weren't calling fouls at all.......and that was just horrible.

When Moore basically dove on top of Steele/Brock on the floor in a move that Ric Flair would be proud of, and there was no call, I figured at that point, we were done.

We just didn't have any intensity last night.

Vanderbilt was usually a step (or more) ahead of us in going for loose balls.

We weren't putting a body on them on our own defensive boards.

Turnovers are not a good thing, but you can tolerate a turnover when it comes from being aggressive. Ours were largely careless.

I'm an old codger and I remember in Wimp's tenure when the team had a very lack luster effort on the road. When the team got back there was an immediate practice in the lower gym and they just ran a drill where one of the assistants would toss a ball on the floor. Two players went for it and the one who didn't get it had to run laps. This went on for a bout an hour, but the point was made.

Even when you aren't shooting well, you can be aggressive and hustle.

I am sick of our guys not playing defense. I dont think it matters what coach said at the beginning of the year - what is he suppose to say? "o we are a great team!" whatever - all coaches moan and groan.

We just need to start sucking it up more and play harder.

We play a weak man defense and get beat off the dribble and when help comes they kick it out for the 3 - examples: Vandy and Wisc.

I dont know the solution - just venting.
