Here's the thing: Stories without at least some validity don't normally have legs.
Speculation regarding Shula's impending departure began about 5 minutes after the Iron Bowl ended. Spurrier's name came up about 5 minutes later.
As we have seen this past few days, fans can come up with some pretty bizzarre possibilities with respect to potential head coaches...probably none more so than Spurrier's.
However, his name just refuses to go away. Is it because Jimmy Sexton is right in the middle of this coaching search? Thats obviously part of it, but the Bill Oliver connection and comments probably did as much to fan the flames.
I didn't think I was nuts enough to buy into this rumor, but I think Spurrier found out after Stoops went to OK, that he needs defense to win it all. He has wanted to work with Bill Oliver since he left Florida...may be before.
This whole idea is crazy, but the longer it stays around, you have to start wondering...
