New Coach Speculation

Re: New Coach Speculation (merged; keep thoughts on the topic here!!!

The offense will be subpar and under his style of play if Bama gets down a few scores it will be nearly impossible to mount a comeback. Look at the Rutgers game this year for reference.

Bama needs a coach that will utilize the recievers. It was sickening to watch the games this year knowing that Brown and Hall were going to be neglected due to the play calling.

Bama needs a coach like Spurrier to revive the program. He'll coach for at least 6 years and that will be plenty of time to get us to the BCS Championship. He'll leave on top and have the top coaches in the country salivating for the job.

His win/lose record speaks for itself. His offenses have been pretty potent also.

Are there any Pro Coaches that are on the prospect list?

I have heard several names on the Pro List but did not know if CMM would consider any Pro coaches to interview and consider.

Re: New Coach Speculation (merged; keep thoughts on prospects here!!!

There's no way Spurrier and Saban are going anywhere. I'd say someone like Grobe is our best bet, given he doesn't go to NC State instead.

Re: New Coach Speculation (merged; keep thoughts on prospects here!!!

I'm loving the names being thrown out. Even if Saba, Stoops, and Spurrier are just wishful thinking, the more tangible backup choices are great as well.

The only name I'm not too high on would be Grobe. Maybe I just haven't followed him closely enough, but I can't recall much notable about his career up until this year at Wake. Keeping in mind this was a Wake team expected to have their best season in some time.

I agree. I look for Johnson or Grobe.

Either one has what it takes to succeed at Alabama. Forget about what offense they currently run. This only proves they are capable of adapting to their situation and then make the absolute best of it!

This is job one regardless of occupation. IMO...

considering Florida State might not want him, it would be intriguing to finally hire bobby bowden. of course it would be a lot better if he wasn't over 70 yrs old

Re: Are there any Pro Coaches that are on the prospect list?

I thought MM said he wanted to get a proven HC and not an assistant coach?

Re: Are there any Pro Coaches that are on the prospect list?

One with a good track record then :P

It's our best bet to get a good coach soon.

Since it's speculation . . .

Isn't the plane headed to Texas

What about the BIG TUNA?

Don't you think he's had ENOUGH of TO

How about that for a big splash.

Didn't someone on this board validate that he/his agent at least asked about the possibility the last time we were looking.

This is also a Wake team that is playing with it's 3rd string QB, and I believe 3rd or 4th string RB. It's an amazing thing to watch this team play knowing what chips they have stacked against them. This year may be a fluke, but still amazing.

Re: Are there any Pro Coaches that are on the prospect list?

I have heard the name "John Gruden" mentioned as a possible prospect since things are not going well at Tampa Bay.

Will MM consider a Pro Head Coach? IF so, what names do you see as a possibility?

Re: New Coach Speculation (merged; keep thoughts on prospects here!!!

Hey guys and gals,,don't give up. Spurrier and Petrino are both giving it some serious though. I am still beting on Spurrier....

Re: Are there any Pro Coaches that are on the prospect list?

Gruden would probably be good. Just don't expect a heck of a lot of offense. :D

Re: Are there any Pro Coaches that are on the prospect list?

He's a bigtime egomaniac though, I doubt he cares what anyone thinks, family members included. One of his brothers is a professor at Emory Med School, I believe--just a bit of trivia for you.

Re: Are there any Pro Coaches that are on the prospect list?

I really haven't heard his name mentioned anywhere, but Steve Mariucci would be a good fit from the pro ranks. He was considered a rising star at Cal before jumping to the Niners. And our chances of getting him would be pretty good, considering he is unemployed right now.
