Just a notification/warning that whomever Trump appoints to head health agencies - Kennedy or anyone else - is going to undermine public health and cannot be trusted to give facts or evidence-based information to the American public or work in the best interests of the public at all.

Oh yes, you can make your many arguments that there is some level or another of equivalence or malfeasance anyway and wash your hands of it.

It is going to be bad and it is going to get people killed, just like his first time in office, but even worse. (and I didn't think that could be possible)
As a physician using cool new drugs that were funded through the NIH that now let us cure some with stage 4 solid cancers... The damage to our medical research could be extensive.

RFK in any role is a disaster. He is not qualified in any way in the medical field and his views are notable for pseudoscientific beliefs that do not correlate to the extensive data published in the field.

Joseph Ladapo is likely to be nominated for surgeon general, and again has notable beliefs that are not data driven and his qualifications have been criticized broadly.

Jay Battarchary, Scott Axis, and Marty Makary are three others who could be looked at for the CDC and other agencies. All are notable for spreading COVID misinformation and currying favor with Trump.

Bad news for healthcare if these guys are given free reign. There are other too, but these are some of the ones to read up about.

The number of people dying from drug overdoses in the US has decreased, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said in a new report.
Overall, overdose deaths declined by roughly 14% from June 2023 to June 2024.
It's an encouraging sign, experts say. Overdose deaths had been on a steady rise since the 1990s, with a jump during the pandemic, according to CDC data.
More than 108,000 people died from overdose deaths in the 12 months leading up to both June 2022 and 2023, but by this June that number had dropped to 97,000.

"While these data are cause for optimism, we must not lose sight of the fact that nearly 100,000 people are still estimated to be dying annually from drug overdose in the US," said Nora Volkow, director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse, in a statement to CBS, the BBC's US partner.
Some of the states that saw the largest rates of decrease were North Carolina (-30%), Ohio (-24%) and Virginia (-23%).
The decline marks a notable change in overdose trends that have troubled the US for three decades, initially fuelled by prescription opioids and later by the rise of heroin and synthetic opioids like fentanyl.

Glad to know it is not just me... Because Rogan just not seem be very knowledgable. And by that I don't mean intelligence per se, but rather his depth of knowledge and "book smarts." He seems to lack any real science knowledge or deep knowledge about many of the things that come up on his podcast, which leads to a certain amount of credulity when it comes to pseudoscience and fringe history. Basically, he could read a few Wikipedia articles and be ahead of his game.

Rogan is a good interviewer and that's about it. I wouldn't trust his knowledge about anything other than bow hunting and MMA, and I'm not interested in either of those things.

Mounjaro Appears to Be Extremely Effective at Preventing Diabetes
This is massive.

A new study has found that one of the top names in the groundbreaking new class of weight loss drugs may not only be good at treating diabetes, but could actually help prevent the disease.

In a new study published in the New England Medical Journal, researchers found that tirzepatide, the active ingredient in Eli Lilly's Mounjaro diabetes treatment and Zepbound weight loss injectable, cut the risk of developing diabetes by a whopping 94 percent in people who are at high risk of the disease.

Funded by Lilly as part of a Phase 3 trial into the efficacy of its flagship glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist — which, like Novo Nordisk's chemically similar semaglutide, the active ingredient in Ozempic and Wegovy, mimics the body's feeling of fullnessthis more than three-year-long study involved over 2500 subjects who were overweight and considered pre-diabetic.

__________

These drugs are game-changers.

I am very hopeful for the research on using them for neurological diseases in the future as well.

He is on the bandwagon of Moon-landing-deniers.

When I heard him say that they were faked, I decided that every other thing coming out of his mouth is suspect.

Well... here in Huntsvegas we all know they were faked at our 'Moon Studios' but we will never tell!

And ugh. The fact that so many people just pick these things up and repeat them over and over and over again until it is accepted as fact is ungood. There are often details and nuances about a certain fact, but we do live in the post truth world.

seems to have a decent amount of personal experience with steroids too

my biggest problem with him is who he platforms. He gives a voice to more crackpots than Art Bell ever did.

funny I used to think Andy Dick was the worst thing to come out of News Radio
