Offensive Line changes

I hate to say it, but since he is an employee now, I'll go ahead. Rushing Proctor by simply going outside is an almost guaranteed sack or QB hurry.
Opposing D's just need to put their fastest rusher outside his left shoulder and rush around him over and over and over. Been that way for years.
He's a guard playing LT. He will likely get a look in the NFL but it will be in the interior.

It's a balancing act, it's not easy, and there are endless "yeah, buts."

Saturday was horrible and looked awfully like last year. Yeah, but it's only one game. Don't give up yet. Yeah, but he's had 9 months to fix the problems. Not only are they not fixed, they look worse. Yeah, but he deserves more than 1 season plus one game. Yeah, but how long do you give him? Yeah, but the buyout is huge, and we don't have that kind of money. Yeah, but if you wait too long, you cost yourself more than the buyout in donations to the university as a whole, not just the Athletic Department. Yeah, but if you do fire him, who is better and would come?

Yeah but, yeah but, yeah but. Et cetera, et cetera, ad infinitum.

This is where Byrne earns his money, and either decision has massive risks. Nothing will be confirmed (I hope) against ULM. We might know more after Wisconsin. I think we'll know a lot more about the truth of our situation after the UGA game.
I agree & like i said in another post..Good or bad the next 3 games will tell the tale of the Deboer Era at Bama..

Until proving differently it's not looking good & I would l loveeeeee too be proving different, I'll man up & apologize, i just want "The Bama Standard" met & it's not being met against top tier talent right now

With Georgia being the exception last year..

OC Ryan Grubb on Proctor:

“I thought (Kadyn Proctor) had a pretty good day,” Grubb said. “There was a couple late pressures but he was holding up for a long time.”

😳

I just cannot get over this was the first game of the year and thas was the effort? They had nine months to prepare for the opponent and that is what you put out there. Have some pride about yourself. What is even more concerning is the coaches continue to talk about the good practices and they didn't do anything that was a surprise.

I have no idea what the answer is but I think it is going to be a long season. they got pushed around and showed no effort aside from a few guys. Again if you cannot show up and play the first game of the year how are they going to show up in game 8-9 of the season?

I hate to give up on the season after game one, but I do not know how this gets fixed now ( I thought it was fixed after last season). Not only is it not fixed it is worse.

Extremely disappointing!

I would love to see the two freshmen (Lloyd and Carrol) get a several series of reps against LA Tech. That goes for the inside also (ionata, Montgomery, and Poe). There are there’s also like Alinen and others that i would love to see some game time action.
I can see your point, but, if it's a team strength & conditioning problem, like lots of folks are saying..

It simply doesn't matter who's playing until that's fixed..

If they were better, giving us a better chance of winning, they would've won the starting job or at least more game reps, buttttt, if they are better & giving us a better chance too win..

That's a coaching problem..I dunno what too think anymore honestly..

Not saying I want them to start. I just want to see them active in a game. I’m not sure I trust this OL coach

The Bama Standard left the program before Saban officially did.

Clearly, our OL is built for "run first" as demonstrated in the first drive.

The rest of the game confirmed that...

Maybe to some degree in the last couple years but this lack of effort was not near as pronounced at any time when CNS was here. He demanded max effort on every play, during every quarter of every game and during every practice and he mostly got it. In the last year +1 we've seen lack of effort, laziness, loafing, head-up-azz syndrome, don't care, no pride like never before. That can be corrected quickly if the coaching staff is handling the locker room and practice right. There is absolutely no excuse for loafing. It should be an immediate benching for any player not matter who it is. Im worried the coaching staff doesn't even recognize it which is frightening to think of. The AD better be in CKD's face right now reading him the riot act. He also needs MAJOR work on his press conference presentation. It's horrible, he comes off like a doofus clown. Reminds of DeBOZO.

The undisciplined play has been going on for a few years now. Lots of penalties all the time. Near dead last in the country in penalties every year.

But yes, this new lack of hustle crap is all DeBoer. Its weird though, the two guys he brought with him from Washington, Brailsford and Bernard played really well, no lack of effort. So is it the guys he inherited and they know he's softer than Saban so they take advantage?

I understand that Proctor is probably more of a guard than tackle. But my goodness. There are plays where it looks like he just doesn‘t want to be out there. In the old days I tried never to criticize a specific student athlete. These guys are pros and in some cases quite wealthy now. Is his back up just that bad? (Not a rhetorical question.)

I've seen this statement before. If that's the case, I wonder why the staff doesn't move him to LG? Is there no one else who can play LT?
