***OFFICIAL*** BAMA vs VT - Post Game Thread...

I'm not real fond of the wildcat myself.

VT89...best of luck to ya'll the rest of the year. You have a really good team. I was sitting on the edge of my seat all night at least until about 3 minutes left in the game when we had the ball.

Roll Tide everyone!:D

Re: ***OFFICIAL*** Post Game Thread...

I'm proud of GMac after this game. Even more so than Ingram, he stood up and made plays when it mattered. He really did grow up in front of our eyes, and in the matter of one game. He made throws I haven't seen an Alabama QB make in ages. Great game.

At one point in the first half, he was 2 of 10 for 49 yards with an interception. After that he was 13 of 20 for 181 yards and a touchdown. That's definitely a turnaround. It also seems that the offensive line matured a lot from the first half to the end of the game. They were really knocking VT off the ball as the game neared the end.

Its been a lot of years since I witnessed such an effort by our entire team. The offense just got better and better. Bud Foster is having a cool Bud right now wondering how the offense line grew up during just one game.

ROLL TIDE ROLL

I don't know if anybody caught Mike Johnson's post game comments, but he basically admitted they played horribly in the first half and said at half time they decided it was time to tighten up and get things done.

Re: ***OFFICIAL*** Post Game Thread...

No shame in this loss. You guys are a great team. We played lights out on defense for the first half, but unfortunately spent 40 minutes on the field. We have a National Championship quality defense, but much less so the offense. Love Ryan Williams, love Cody Grimm and Jake Johnson. We kept Julio to relatively little.

Great game guys.

I really appreciate the good sportsmanship that the VT posters showed on our site. Very hard fought game and with your coaching staff, R. Williams, and D, you guys should win a lot of games this year. Good luck the rest of the year.

What a game, I'm exhausted from watching and cheering. This team is gonna be fun to watch. I loved the toughness of Ingram, and was happy to hear he is fine. The D is gonna be awesome, just eliminate mental mistakes. I thought VT had a great defense, too. I couldn't believe our stats against them. Keep on getting better guys! Roll Tide Roll!

Shaky first half by both offenses which I think is a credit to both defenses which are outstanding. VaTech was as good as advertised, very well coached and talented team. That freshman on kickoffs was deadly. Close game as expected. Very surprised by the offensive play-calling by Alabama and not always in a positive way. Please no more wildcat- let the barn, ole miss, arky and the dolphins have it.
Glad to see this Alabama team is good enough to overcome all the mistakes they made, because they made enough of them to lose it. Proud of all the players, especially Ingram & McElroy. Ingram is a hoss and really took over the game for BAMA. Great win, but I'm exhausted.
Good luck to the Hokies rest of the way. You guys have a great team to be proud of.:BigA:

VT was really well coached and their defense and special teams may be as good as anyone's.

They played hard and clean and are probably just a couple of play makers away for now. Thank goodness!! Good luck the rest of the way! :BigA:

I'd just like to say you're welcome to ya'll.

The little story of my day:

I woke up this morning with a touch of the, ahem, intestinal bug and decided to sweat it off working in the yard. By the time the game started I had the chills and was completly miserable. With the game at 7-6 I couldn't take it any more and deciidied to TIVO the game and go to bed.

Tossed and turned for an hour and rolled over to see the score on ESPN. 17-16 VT at the half. Spent another hour trying to go to sleep and checking the score and it never changed. I though well, I might as well get up and see why we're struggling.

Something was mentioned about possible interference and VT had to punt. We promptly scored in 2 plays. recovered the kickoff and took care of business from then on.

Clearly, it took me getting back in the game to get our butts in gear.

Whew. Great game. I believe we saw Gmac doing some growing right before our eyes. Ingram and the OL seemed to get stronger as the 2nd Half drug on. Cudos to the S&C Coach. Defense is gonna be scary good as soon as they get rid of the mental errors.

Re: ***OFFICIAL*** Post Game Thread...

I liked the Wildcat formation. If you're going to run it anyway, might as well skip the handoff. Plus, I imagine we'll pass from that formation later down the road. Gives opposing D's something to worry about and I'm sure it's fun for the players. Blame VT's great defense for us not getting big plays from that formation, but it's worthy trying again.

Who'da thunk Bama would be runnin the spread tho ? Glad they got the hard fought win but I am as shocked as can be at Bama running a spread O.

Great game, you guys definitely have a great defense, and are a great ACC championship contender. I'm rooting for you guys on it. Don't be shy though, I hope you continue to post over here, we love classy fans from other teams.

Again, great game, and good luck on the ACC championship bid, you guys definitely have what it takes to win it.

wow. Alabama put up nearly 500 yards on that defense. Do not doubt: VT will be a top defensive unit before it's all said and done...we moved on as solid of a unit as we'll see in the SEC (in my opinion) and I hope we continue to improve week to week. This is an even better win than Clemson 08 in my opinion. VT competed for sixty-minutes with physical, hard-hitting football and we responded with our own brand of physical, hard-hitting football. Are there problems to fix? Definitely, but this is a great starting point hopefully!

Alabama just went up against the number 7 defense in the country from last year and they won the Orange Bowl. VT has a great defense, but Alabama's Offense grew up before our eyes. 4th quarter conditioning showed big.

Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer Give them Hell Alabama. And they DID. Lord Blessed both sides no serious injuries. :BigA:
