I'm thinking one of the most egregious calls was that initial spot where Refroe caught a ball he dove backwards for. He looked like 2 full yards short and the refs put a full yard past where his feet were. I guess you can't challenge a spot in college? Anyone know? If not, they need to change that!

The receiver was obviously blocking the DB on the last TD. Since the throw was across the line of scrimmage that is pass interference.
I am quite sure that I need to read the rule book regarding pick plays. I am convinced that I have no idea what IS a pick play. I thought I saw some, but, the refs have eyes too and called it not once.

Good Grief!

The better team (tonight) won. The possible pick plays are trumped by the fact they were gashing us by then regardless. Can't miss on 12 straight 3rd downs and expect the defense to keep chugging. That said, no one has any right to get down on our 18-year old QB especially after that last drive. He's got it whatever it is, and I'm expecting huge things from him next year. RTR!

You'd rather go split safeties and let Watson run for all the first downs instead? Its not as simple as you make it out to be.
How much is Watson going to run with two minutes to go in the game?
It's not important because what's now done is done. I'm proud of the team and their effort, and thought it was a great season.
Still, and I haven't waivered in this viewpoint in forever. I think Coach Saban needs to be the head coach and get his butt out of the secondary. He's not a good secondary coach at all, in the least.

From Twitter- Saban will spend the off season complaining about pick plays and then install them in our offense much like he did the HUNH. [emoji23][emoji23]

#1 you need to learn to spell
#2 this makes no sense
#3 what point are you trying to make?
I do see a couple of typos so I apologize. :). In short, my point is the offense scored 31 points. If you had told most people on this forum before the game started that our offense would generate 31 points, they would have been satisfied with our offensive production and thought we would have won.

Saw a lot of that tonight. I guess people are tired of Bama winning and will do whatever to keep it from happening.

He's just saying that we overcame a lot this season to be where we are and in the end, Clemson did what they needed to do to win. part of the game.

I don't know if it makes a difference, but I wish Saban had gotten rid of Kiffin after the Florida game.
I think it could have made a difference, but I completely understand why Saban wanted to stick with Kiffin. The transition to a new play caller is a risky thing, and Kiffin was absolutely masterful in the playoff last year. He faced two competent defenses and torched both of them with some great play calling. I don't think Saban imagined even a distracted Kiffin was going to have the issues he apparently has in the Washington game. Turn back the clock, and yeah I think he'd have turned to Sark then to, but in a perfect world Kiffin goes out there in the playoffs and does as good a job as he did last year. There was no way Sark was going to have the same upside because Sark was never going to have time to install his offense.

Having said that, when I realized the situation I felt like Alabama was in trouble. I'm not even that upset right now, I kind of saw this coming. The fact that Alabama's offense wasn't a complete mess, and actually did score points and move the ball some is the testament to the ability of some of those guys. You put a true freshman out there, working with a play caller for the first time, against a top 10 defense... just pick the coordinator, pick the true freshman in all of college football, and I'd bet that they get their butts kicked. The upside is huge though, Sark and Hurts will only get more comfortable with each other.

Anyone who blames Hurts for this loss is an idiot. The kid drove our team down the field with 3 min left to take the lead. You cant ask for more. Our D was in position to win the game. They did not do that. We made several bad plays on that last drive defensively l, not just one. I think Hurts is special and never let up. He is 18 years old and played like a 4 year senior with 4 minutes left.
yeah but what about the other 57 minutes that led up to that??? he has got to develop as a passer...or I hope we find someone that can

Y'all I hate to say this but Clemson scored 35 points and only once with a short field. Offense contributed to that but not being able to sustain drives, but that has been true all year and frankly is to be expected with a true freshman QB and then our top RB getting injured. That said the offense put up 31 points, twice thanks to the defense and turnovers but still 31 points. If you sad that before the game, most people would predict us to win. Part of the game.
Clemson ran 99 plays against our defense. That is entirely the offenses fault and the reason they scored 35 points. 99 plays is absolutely absurd.
