Bama Game Thread: Official PostGame Thread - Bama vs. IU...

Couldn’t disagree more. I think Mark Ingram was quoted as saying Coach DeBoer was an “out scheme” you Coach and less interested in mental toughness. So I’m curious, do you see Coach D figuring all of this out next year. I’m going to bet we may be having the same conversation next year. Wonder what your feeling will be at that point? Especially if he signs an extension.
sometimes guys like Ingram and D Harris are not wrong. Sad that the fan base only wants one side of it

I want to know one thing....What the heck happened to Ty Simpson? He was a Heisman candidate based on his result during the first part of the season. His decision making was excellent, his arm was lively and accurate and was commanding the offense like a BOSS. For whatever reason that all went away or become very spotty at best. Another befuddling aspect of Alabama's season.

Wasn’t that the theme also with Milroe last year? What’s the common denominator? 🤔

By this logic, the offense cannot run the ball "by design".
No good team gets worse as the season progresses. Seattle saw the problem before we did
We dinked and dunked teams in the beginning...Ty had a high completion rate...with the occasional deeper throw...something changed and those routes went away and Ty got hammered...if it ain't broke don't fix it....Grubb's ego may be the problem...the Seattle guys saw it and fired him

So for those that want to keep CKD, how long do we give him to get his players and system going? I understand we don't want to fire someone that has only been here two years. But when it seems all he does is talk around problems, stand on the sidelines looking like he's having a hemorrhoid flare up, with that look on his face, and NEVER make adjustments, what then? Any coach worth his salt should be screaming at everyone after a performance like this. Telling anyone that will listen, this is unacceptable and I'm going to do everything in my power to fix it no matter what it takes.
Give him thru next season. Fire him now and you're rudderless. No decent coaches out there available if you fired him now. You could hire a seemingly good up and comer but would that be what we want?
Next year will tell you if he is willing to adjust or he's just another Les Miles who digs his heels in and goes down and takes the ship with him.
You'll be able to tell fairly soon in the way of any changes in staff/strength and conditioning and may be able to tell more in the spring.

Grubb is getting lot of hate but early in the year he was getting a lot of praise how much better he was then we had. Did he forget how to call plays or was he handcuffed with a quarterback that was clearly injured and didn’t have the ability to throw the ball down the field the last 2 months? The offense is designed to throw the ball down the field. Which is what we were doing to start the year.
seeing Mack play we could have done better .. by about 10 points
He should have been inserted in earlier games

Alabama has not lost by 35 points in a bowl game this century. Enough of the embarrassing losses already and if that means coaching changes then I am all for it.
Indiana got smoked last year by Notre Dame (27-3 with 2 touchdowns in last minute and a half to make it 27-17). People were saying see they got embarrassed and didn’t belong in big stage yet they kept their coaches and now look like best team in country.

I think DeBoer absolutely has to break the habit of trying to out-smart teams and realize he doesn't have to with the talent he can get at Alabama and instead turn his focus to that mental toughness aspect.

When you line up in 4th and half a yard and over and you know you can't run it up the middle, you broke something in the offense you need to fix.

As far as an extension, DeBoer shouldn't be fired but any contract rework should not involve a bigger buyout, I can say that much. It should not get one penny larger, sure fiddle with it if that makes everyone feel good but it's malpractice to increase his buyout a single cent until he proves he can do more than lose 4 games a year and have at least one massive embarrassment.

They were 10-1 in the last 11 games of the regular season going into the SEC championship. That is very hard for a coach to pull your quarterback when you are winning games.

Can't be mad at Coach for getting us to the Rose Bowl. Maybe I am about the way we lost it but we have had success this year. Need to make the adjustments to get us back on top. I still believe he can do that.
DeBoer’s seat is justifiably hot now, but he’s not going anywhere.

Next year is critical for him and the program.
