Bama Game Thread: Official Postgame Thread - Bama vs. Michigan...

I’m curious how they measured “off target”. IMO an “off target” snap would be anything outside the torso. So basically top of the numbers to belt and inside the shoulders would be the “snap zone” if you will. Just curious if there is some standard for this because I have no idea. Or did some guy just watch film and use his gut to count which ones were off?

I'm curious about this also. Just because a QB adjusts some, does not mean it's off-target. top to bottom, definitely from just under the belt to shoulders/top of numbers. inside the shoulder is also good, but it can also be good if it's to the QB throwing sIide, or intentionally to the side of the QB where the play action handoff is. Of course, the shoestring or anything much lower than mid-thigh is bad. I'm going to have to go rewatch to see exactly where that number came from.

I mean even in practice, the QBs don't get snaps directly in the hands. In the video of the QB passing I posted earlier, on the first rep Ty gets the snap is slow, and up into the helmet. he still snatched it and got the ball out quickly. Those are 'snaps, where a GA is literally tossing them the ball from the ground, and typically the GAs are not supposed to make it 'perfect'

Im sure the full narrative regarding the inconsistency in the snaps is not getting out and he us shouldering more than his share of the blame in the media. And my perspective suggests that Saban didnt go as far to cover for him as for Milroe in press conferences. Imo, there has been a whole lot of covering for Milroe this season by players and coaches.

Sometimes, you have to stand up for your own dignity even if you give up something you are invested in.

SM's decision to enter the portal is interesting. Either he's been "encouraged," or, judging from post-game behavior, feels as if he's had enough blame and wants out of the pressure cooker. Either way, I don't blame him...

Then something worse happened. Jalen Milroe sat right beside CNS and they both looked into the eyes of the press and told outright lies. Jalen even "bragged" that he appreciated the coaches trusting him on the last play to put the ball into his hands.

If Jalen is so fragile that he can't admit he messed up (if that's what happened) or that Coach can't say the play that we were supposed to run was a pass but the snap was bad and threw off the timing then we know the real issue with this team is not physical, but mental. Mentally/emotionally weak.

I just see no reason to create a false narrative under these conditions. Either way the play failed. There's no honor lost in failing. Just take ownership. Simple as that.
Oh so the greatest coach in history is a coward and a liar?

I *think* it was Kevin Clark, of "This is Football Productions" (but don't hold me to him) who was IN the M locker room post-game. He reported there wasn't a single player or coach who didn't believe Milroe would be the ball carrier on that last play. The entire team keyed on JM because they'd studied a lot of video and knew what was coming.

I hate posting this, but Bama simply got out-coached in OT.

SIAP but is it possible that our centers problems were forced by actions of the defensive players by making him somehow rush the snap by their actions? Maybe film showed them some issues that they were able to exploit.
Well I guess that could be the case...
But then one would have to presume that every team all year were seeing the same issues...
But the bigger question is why our staff couldn't fix the problem, was there no other player available to fill that humongous hole...???

Nope, I did not say that. Go back and read the context of what was being discussed.

Some were saying CNS was covering up that Jalen panicked and ran when the actual play was supposed to be a swing pass to Roydell. Kobe Prentice muddied the water and said this even though CNS and JM in the postgame presser said the play was the QB counter play behind the pulling right guard.

I said I believed what CNS and JM said but some think it could have been "Coach speak" to cover up what really happened. I was pushing back on the coach speak narrative on that particular play.

Just go back and read the context when this is being discussed.

Moon, I'm confused. If you truly believe what CNS said, you could have written that from the start. Better yet, you would not have gone on for six paragraphs detailing a conspiracy theory that you now say you never bought into. You even drummed up some moral outrage.

You're a good writer. In this case the context to which you refer is anything but clear.

Watching the sacks in the UM game, I think on all but 1 of them, there were guys open just like this. The ball just has to come out.
Yes, it is open and shut. I think even landonew would have to agree after watching this. I guess the only question is "do any of the other QBs have the ability to do it?". You would think so, but they didn't vs USF.
