I didn't get to see the game, but did record it. Yall tell me - before I go watch it, was it as bad as it sounded? I think the defense did okay but the offense kept putting them in unwinnable situations.

That pretty much is the game in a nutshell; don't watch it. You will have a better day.

It’s not punishing them for the CG ‘appearance’

It’s punishment for getting Blownout by 3 TD’s with -3 yards rushing yards.

The loss by 2 TD’s to a ACC team at 5-7 that finished 13th in the ACC still exists too.

OU is now the only ‘respectable’ loss.

We are now 10-3 with 2 Bad no show losses.

I cannot resist the attempt at humor here, but we treat some of our college football games right now in Alabama like some of those so called mafia “no-show” jobs.

So, would anyone feel more comfortable if Bama punted down on the 12 yard line , held Georgia, drove down to the 17 on the next drive and kicked a FG to make the game 21-10? I mean, DeBoer could have done that and not received the national media backlash of ‘don’t belong in the playoffs ’ instead of trying to win the game.
One thing, if CKD didn’t know the monster that is Alabama Football, I am sure he is well aware after this year.

“Shoulda hired Dabo” - TO ME - is like saying we should’ve hired Danny Ford to succeed coach Bryant in 1982.

- Bama boy (1967-69, from Gadsden)
- won a national title at Clemson
- had them as solid contenders for years
- reputation besmirched by NCAA allegations

It never made much sense and while Dabo was much better than Ford, he did the easy part of building something close to a dynasty. He was not able to do the difficult part of maintaining it.

I would have like to have punted; and hoped for a 3 and out and see how it plays from there. Crazier things have happened than come back from 14 down with 8 minutes to go. We do have a propensity to force turnovers.

Hiring Kiffin is like hiring a guy who has done three stretches for arson, but once built a nice looking building, to come build you a building that is up to fire code. His sinister nature will eventually consume the good he’s capable of doing.

The last thing we need with a football coach is him knocking up a 17 year-old under the age of consent girl who figures he is her gold mine for the future and decides to have the child and the story erupts in October of an unbeaten season with a lot of experience and us ranked in the top five.

That is the risk you are taking hiring Lane Kiffin, and I just don’t gamble that much.

My list was:
1) Sark - not coming
2) Lanning - wasn’t coming
3) DeBoer - figured he would

Campbell is interesting. I saw a complaint yesterday on Twitter from a Penn State fan, Who noted that Matt Campbell’s record against ranked teams was only one game better than James Franklin’s was.

The idiot making the post did not stop for one second to consider the fact that Campbell is the number two program in a much smaller state and still had a better record than Franklin against the ranked teams. PA is four times the size of Iowa and is the lone competitive national program, and has a national recruiting footprint that should make him successful.

Campbell strikes me as a guy who has a lot of potential for accomplishment, but he is in that gray area of having earned the opportunity, but you aren’t sure how he’s going to work out.

That being said, James Franklin had ample opportunity to cross the threshold to the next step, and he clearly was incapable of doing it, so he needed to go anyway.

Here’s a point I wish to me, and please understand this is in no way a criticism of either you or your viewpoint:

Ask yourself honestly, what do you think the reaction would’ve been if we had hired Cignetti to replace Nick Saban in January 20 24?

Something tells me a number of people on this board, and I’m in no way referencing you, would lose their collective minds that we hired the head coach of James Madison to drive the slick and sleek car, and a number of those same people would’ve pointed to that guy who had just played for a national championship, following an unbeatable season until the final game at Washington.

I understand hindsight is 20-20, and picking a football coaches a lot like choosing a spouse or a vice presidential, running, mate, or for that matter like a box of chocolates in that you never know what you’re gonna get.

But let’s add that the obvious only becomes obvious after the obvious has happened.

Nick Saban could just easily have flamed out at Alabama as become the living legend. His hiring was based largely on the fact he was able to win a national championship at LSU after they had been in a decade long funk.

Most of our hires not named Mike DuBose made sense under the circumstances in which they were made, whether the coach turned out to be successful or not. Even Shula - in the context of the time he was hired - was still the path of least resistance and problems later.
