Where ever there's BBQ, Bourbon & Football
They have payed too much money to Milroe is my belief. We are seeing NFL dynamics where a better player on the bench doesnt see the field...
Maybe Ty couldn't do any better and if that's the case then fine. Whether Ty can do any better or not still has no impact on the fact that Milroe can't either. Kirby is going to eat our lunch in a few weeks. Once a coach realizes a QB can't handle the blitz that's all they're going to see.

He may not but it would have been nice to have it confirmed rather speculation.

The problem(s) are pretty simple, but at this stage of his career I believe they are not fixable. It is about recognition and reaction. Even on most of the deep “hero balls”, Milroe is late.

JM is what he is at this point. CKD has to decide if what he gets, both good and bad, is what he wants.
Milroe's throwing mechanics and pocket presence are just so bad. They have not improved one bit from last year.

His feet when he throws scream to everyone that's watching that the throw will not be accurate.

The chucking it deep into double coverage and the way he took those sacks running backwards....he played like a scared freshman.

That’s the thing. I can’t believe we didn’t even try another QB.

Gee, I wonder how Wisconsins D is going to prepare for Milroe and Bama.

Granted, if we can get Proctor back at LT and Pritchett at RT we should be able to run more consistently with Jam and Justice.....but if they blitz or bring a free rusher on pass plays....Milroe has no idea what to do.

Milroe never sees any of it. He won't suddenly start dumping the ball to a receiver on a slant over the blitz. He just won't. Meaning the D will continue to bring the same pressure, over and over.

If we can't make them pay for bringing the extra rushers by hitting the short pass over them....they will never stop.

What else did we see last night....open receivers that Milroe did hit were desperately trying to make sure they caught the ball. They weren't catching and running frequently at all. Why is that? Most of his throws are late and off target by enough it slows the WR down. Why is that? His mechanics and his processing are bad....they have not improved one bit.
Don’t worry they’re going to come along and explain to you how none of it was milroes fault and that we should all be thankfully that he played a great game last night.

CKD missed an opportunity to teach JM last night after the 20 yard sack. I really believe he should have brought TS in for a series or two to settle JM down but also send a message that he better step us his play or he will see the sideline more...
Bingo!!! I said the exact same thing to my wife at the time. You pull him and sit him for a series or two, if for no other reason than an attempt to talk to him and settle him down. And to send a message.

Forcing a square peg into a round hole because the peg is making bank and most of the other pegs see him as their leader. He may lead elsewhere, but his leadership on the field in the heat of a game isn't ideal.

Cant sit him if he is being lauded as a Heisman candidate...

Two coaching staffs have allowed themselves to be handcuffed by the media infatuation with JM.

Bryce would have made them pay for blitzing, they'd have eventually backed off and then the run game takes over.

I bet the USF coaches said in prep last week....let's blitz him until he can prove he can hurt us. Then during the game, realizing he had no answer...and saying....let's turn up the heat even more.
You are correct. That's exactly what happened last night. The USF defensive coordinator was playing 8 to 9 guys in the in the box consistently (making it extremely hard to establish a running game) and playing man on the outside daring us to beat them throwing. No team from here on out is going to be scared of our passing attack.

I don't care for playing school that are "supposed to lose" because the coach knows he can do things strategically that are not defensible. SF threw virtually everyone at the QB on every play leaving the entire secondary open. I think that's why Milro kept getting sucked into the long ball because it was all there. But the DB's were told to just hold anyone who was getting lose. I know Williams would have had another long TD but he was being held all the way and somehow this overefficious crew missed the most obvious call of the day. If the crew hadn't been so tight on the holding calls, if Forby hadn't played, if we hadn't had to go with a rearranged OL this strategy of theirs would have resulted in a bigger blowout than last week. But when you're supposed to lose you can do anything stupid, nobody blames you if it doesn't work, if it does work they call you a great coach.

I was a little disappointed with Milro falling back into his habits of running backwards in the pocket. On the biggest sack of the night the entire right side of the field was open. Nobody would have been in the camera shot with him until he'd cleared the first down marker by 10 yards. He has the speed to get to the sideline but for some reason his instinct is to run the wrong way. I hope this is just rust and he will see the film and slap himself in the face for it and focus on using the gift God gave him to get away.

I do think our OC is still learning. I hope he learns quickly.

pretty proud of the defense. They had open guys deep. We need to assume those will be 6 against UGA.
I just can’t bring myself to imagine that this game is going to change anything. The issues have been the same ones I have noticed since 2022. This game looked eerily similar to Milroe’s first start against aTm in 2022. Yes, he was young, but it was obvious to me (and BOB) that he isn’t a real quarterback.

JM does not throw WRs open, he only throws TO them...he doesnt have the touch to lead a receiver.

Aww man, not you too…
Look, I was critical of some of his play last night, but he had pressure on every. single. snap. And when he didn't, we got flagged, over and over.

The OL was terrible last night, as bad as I've seen an OL play in a long time. Expecting any QB to be remotely successful in the face of pressure when the OC is calling long-developing plays is crazy.

That said, some of y'all constnatly blaming JM for everything is beyond tiresome. I wish you would learn a new song.

That‘s just it, isn’t it? Coaching was coaching years ago. If you made the same mistakes over and over, you found a seat on the bench. And you KNEW the intent. Coaches didn’t worry about your feelings or what anyone else thought. The job was to get the best out of you, and that doesn’t happen if you make the same mistakes over and over again.

I have no earthly idea if Ty would have done better last night. But is that really the point? Isn’t the point to send a message to your starter? Love or hate Bobby Knight, he said one thing I absolutely agree with:, the bench can be greatest motivation tool a coach has available.

The bigger problem is are we even running the DeBoer offense or has he had to ball that up and try to force his offense to fit milroes strengths. The talk was it was going to be a bunch of quick routes and the QB almost having to be cerebral in his decision making. Instead of seeing that we are seeing the same old stuff we seen last year. Trying to call plays to what Jalen can do and it handicap our offense.
