Yes, he may have failed as lead blocker into the "4" hole on the fake FG vs. Clemps, and he still looks as jittery as if he got drafted straight off the intramural field, but leading 'Bama's Skinny Mac Attack might be just what the team psych doctor ordered as a booster shot for playing the part...
 
Glad for the win. I figured the late start would dampen our momentum and result in some sloppy play. Hate to see the injury to Tua as it probably really damages his chance at winning the heisman. All we will hear now is how much of a lead Jalen will build now with Tua out.

I’m not as soft as some of the folks whining about Pruitt’s temper tantrum.



I forgot to mention what makes this week even more fun. My daughter is an Auburn fan, thanks to my sister who’s an AU Alumni, so she hates that she’s my UT lucky charm. Every year she wants Bama to lose this game but, her love for AU is not strong enough to break the curse her birth placed on UT!

I agree. If you watch CJP when JG comes off the field it looks like he says "don't you ever do that again".

Yep. And let me tell you, they're giving JG pure Hades over on Vol Nation. Supposedly, he changed the called play at the line and tried to be a hero, which resulted in our awesome 100-yard TD. They're saying that it's also the reason why Pruitt tore into him so much.

Mac did not have the practice reps with the first team offense, which explains limiting the number of pass plays when he went into the game. He did have a few successful pass plays, but relying more heavily on the ground game makes sense.
Looking forward, I am very concerned about this team. We simply do not have the defense of past years and are going to continue giving up points. We have to counter our opponents by outscoring them. Without Tua, that is a challenge. It may be a day or two before we really know the extent of Tua's injury but if it turns out to be a high ankle sprain, those can be lingering.

LSU beat MSU 36-13. Bama beat UT 35-13. UT beat MSU. LSU didn't lose their starting QB, we did. Hoping that Tua heals and can be effective against LSU and that CNS doesn't figure put a way to make it a night game. RTR
 
I think that we are going to learn a lot about Alabama and Mac Jones over the next week. I am most concerned about what Mac will be allowed to do in the game. Saban made it sound like they are not going to let him run the entire offense in the post-game presser. If he is limited, you learn nothing and fail to prepare Mac for the next time he is needed. That would be a tragic mistake, because you will beat Arkansas with anyone at QB. You don't play the Arkansas game with only that game in mind. You play the Arkansas game with the rest of the season in mind.

Alabama is going to win this game, but how? We will know soon enough, I guess.

well, we have the best coaches and the best players in the country. i'm not that worried, i think they will get it figured out.

B1G, you could very well be correct in your interpretation of what CNS said, but I wonder if it`s more a case of the staff trying to emphasize those parts of the O that play to what Mac does best, perhaps. No question that Mac is not the overall athlete Tua is, and not the laser beam passer Tua is either.

I agree with you. It makes me sick that Tua got hurt again, when he should have been protected (did our TE miss the block?) and then thrown the ball away. That one moment basically defines our season. I hope he is mostly 100 percent ready for LSU.

With Mac getting 1st team reps this week, hopefully he will look better against Arkansas. I am thankful Arkansas is not that good. I think Taulia has played in what, 2 games? I wonder if he will get lots of 2nd team reps and some play time or if they plan to redshirt him? At least he is more mobile than Mac. With the bad injury luck, Bama may need Taulia and Mack both. I wonder how he has progressed in practices the past few weeks.

No one is Tua, but what do you have in Mac? This is the time to find out. Coker turned out to be vary capable of winning games for Alabama, but he had to be given the entire offense to find that out. Let's see what Mac can do. Let him run the entire offense.

They managed the offense around Jalen for what he could do well. I suspect that's what he meant At this point, I really don't want Mac running the entire offense which Tua can run...

I get your point, but if not now (against a terrible Arkansas team with a full week in practice to prepare), then when?

I have a lot of faith in Mac Jones. I think that he can be a championship QB for Alabama. I also think that he needs to believe in himself, and he needs his coaches to believe in him.
 
Watching Saban's press conference, if I didn't know better, I'd think we lost the game.

It will be interesting to see how Mac does after a week of practice as the starter. It will also be interesting to see how Sark changes the offense for Mac. I suspect we'll see more focus on the run game and safe passes, which should be all we need against Arkansas.
