Game Thread: OM Post Game Thread

Yes. I agree. I hate that we can't seem to get over that 3rd quarter thing. I do believe though that today seemed to be the Cody getting hurt thing. We played badly from that point on. When he went out I said I hope he's OK and I said to my wife that I am afraid that the players are going to be focused on what just happened the rest of the game. If Cody is out the rest of the season, I think it will affect the whole team just like when protho went out. I think he is this teams identity and has step up as a leader. I hope I'm wrong.

BTW, I didn't mean to slam you so hard with that comment earlier, I am just irked at all the negativity and our ranking.

No problem.

I agree, when Cody went out the air seemed to go out of our balloon almost completely. He is the heart and soul of this team.

I will say this, thank goodness they made more mistakes than we did. This game, IMO, was decided exactly as Jess predicted. They made one more turnovers than we did, and it cost them the game...

Just like I didn't think Texas deserved to jump us last week. But given the way we played in the second half today, there's no way I would put us ahead of Texas.

OU showed today how to take care of business against a very good and ranked Kansas team. Right now they are playing better than we are. JMO

Should Mizzou top Texas tonight, PSU will jump us after crushing the UM juggernaut.

Well, our defense did what it needed to do when it needed to do it, and that (combined with a fine offensive effort in the first half) is what won us this ballgame.

It wasn't pretty. I was on pins & needles the entire 2nd half. But considering we were coming from an off week, I'll take it, say "thank you" on my way out the door, and shut off the lights behind me.

I don't need 24 hours to "enjoy" it. Bring on Tennessee week!

Very well put. This "young" team is still learning what it takes to play a full four quarters with the same intensity. Fortunately, they've done more than enough to win every game. You can't really ask for more than that if you think about it.

Here's to putting that "complete" game together against UT this week!!

I'm not blaming the referees with this question, but did Ole Miss have any penalties called on them in the second half? I can't seem to remember any.
I remember an illegal procedure early on in the half...

Just checked - they had the one flase start penalty in the 3rd Qtr.

But we only had 2 penalties called against us in the 2nd half, so hard to complain.

Looked like someone was watching the jumbotron when the ball was snapped. Although now I wonder if he wasn't looking at the sidelines yelling fake and jumping around waving instead.

I feel kind of weird. Actually, I think I'm more reieved than anything, but I was always worried about this game.

I think most of us are suffering from Shula-itis.
With the old teams, our defense would crumble down the stretch more often than not. We were trained to expect to lose in the 4th quarter.
This Bama team is not one of those.

Yes, we are a very beatable team, but I feel good because we finally got tested a bit this year and came through with a W.

JPW(The enigma that he is) played very well.
ST had a brain fart with the fake field goal that everyone knew was coming.
The defense had a few lapses, but held in the end.
We had many stupid penalties.

The only real odd thing was some of the play calling at the end, but then again, if Nick walker doesn't drop a pass, then OM might not have seen the ball at the end.

I saw a post on the front of this thread about "2 or 3 plays" ... Coach Stallings used to say we'd play the entire game for the opportunity to make a difference on a hand full of plays, would we be ready?

I also remember our fans complaining about these close wins during the Stallings, and guess what, BRYANT years too! I'd sure rather complain about a close win than wonder what our team could have done differently to come up with that hand full of plays to make the difference!!

RoooolllllllLLLLLL TIDE! RROOOOOOOOLLLLLLL!!!

Meanwhile, Ole Miss can console themselves with the idea that they are just 5 or 6 plays from being undefeated.

Amen! After the season is over, you will look back and say it was a win.
