Does anyone know of or remember any program (SMU excluded) that has ever had a more controversial and tumultuous 10-15 years.
We went from National Champs to 2 periods of investigation and eventual probation, 5 different coaches,Secretary scandals,Picked to win the SEC and only winning 3 games, The Fran soap opera, Stripper gate all over SI,Finally now to change coaches or not to change coaches????? and again we have Spurrier, Davis, Saban, Bellicheck, Cowher and the ghost of Vince Lombardi seen eating together at Dreamland while arguing over who gets the job at Bama . Who needs Days of our lives?????????? We are a living breathing soap opera of a football program.
So does anyone know of another school that has had a run like this??/
So pass the bonbons and RRRRROOOOLLLLL Tide.

Oklahoma came off a very successful decade in the 80's under Barry Switzer. Then got put on probation and went through at least 3-4 coaches before Bob Stoops took over and righted the ship. Gary Gibbs, Howard Schnellenberger, and John Blake were the 3 coaches I can remember. UGA went through 3 coaches after Vince Dooley retired, although I think those 3 covered about a 10-15 year period.

Good answers but did they have the scandals to go with the coaching changes??
I know OK had the steroid thing and wasn't there some kind of sexual assualt scandal???

USC was pretty bad in the 1990's through 2001. Their record was just over .500. Considering the number of cupcake teams USC plays out of conference and within their own conference, that's pretty bad. You at least expect 7-8 wins every year for a team like USC.

I think you are right about OU players with steroid use and I vaguely remember something about sexual assualt or charges of rape. When Coach Schnellenberger resigned there were accusations of him having a drinking problem.

USC (the one in California) had some tumultous years after John McKvay.

John Robinson twice, Paul Hacket, Ted Tollner, Larry Smith all coached there.

Not good years (for them) generally speaking, though Robinson got them to a few Rose Bowls.

Auburn is about too:
