It must suck to be an Auburn fan. To wit:

2006: Alabama goes 6-7 and fires mediocre head coach. Nation on the edge of its seat waiting to see who is hired to replace him; media coverage of coaching search trumps even the upcoming BCS Championship Game. Implications of Saban hire still being discussed two weeks later.

2004: Auburn goes 13-0. Nation stifles collective yawn and doesn't even allow Barners to play for the national championship. Only thing being discussed two weeks later is actual location of Auburn; roughly half the population continues to believe it to be somewhere in Georgia.

Roll Tide.

And the really sad part is if the Barn was in UF's shoes this year, IMO you would have probably seen a rematch btw OSU and UM in the national championship game. The Barn, where national championship hopes go to die.:rolleye2:

I can't believe that after 6 years of proabation and about 4 coaching changes at UA, all Auburn has to show for it is ONE SEC championship. Talk about missing the boat. . .

Well, they do have the coach with the biggest set of ears in the nation.

They claim to be the SEC cream of the crop but if you look at the records they have ONLY ONE SEC Championship in the past seventeen years. Missing the boat is an under statement.

Its OK to listen but not all the time tubbyears. Coach you have to say something in order the barn can win another title. 1957? Its OK, if you are satisfied with one every 70 years. :BigA:

The People Choice of Lee County really does not count. That cheesy ring you got for the team ---Well, looks stupid. The Peoples Choice. Heck thats like an election. The people vote but the Electorial College puts the man in office. That is the BARN, nobody cares or is paying attention. :BigA:

This is the part that i try to teach those ya-hoos, but they'll never get it.... mediocrity is what they have choosen to accept and as i've said BS(before Saban) we will win a NC before them once again!

The last 10 seasons have been the worst in the history of Alabama and possibly the best in the history of Auburn. We have the same number of:

10-win seasons (3)
SEC championships (1)
National championships (0)

as does Auburn during that stretch. They have had one undefeated season in those 10 years, they have a better overall record, and they have a better head-to-head record. However, despite the NCAA giving them virtual hegemony in the state of Alabama, they haven't taken advantage of the situation as you would expect. During the previous ten-year period, which wasn't even in the top 3 in Bama's history, we had 1 National Championship, 2 SEC championships, and 6* ten-win seasons.

*-on the field, disregarding the 1993 games forfeited due to Langham's suspension.

As one Auburn fan put it once, they are good for at least one or two knucklehead games a year. They just rarely put together a complete season even when everything falls in their favor. Their greatest years of football are just good when compared to the greatest years of Bama football.

They've got to be discouraged knowing that when we look for a return to greatness, our expectation is far beyond what they define as "great".
