Jim Dunaway of NBC 13 news in B'Ham is reporting on the Rick & Bubba show this morning that Coach Shula held a team meeting at 9:00 pm last night to discuss the practice schedule should the team be invited to a bowl game. He also sent his assistants off to recruit. Dunaway said that Mal told CS that he was no longer the coach after the team meeting last night and that the players are on their way to a workout this morning and being told the news by the media.

I'm interested in seeing how our players are going to react to the news. From what I have read on this forum and in various newspaper articles, I'm guessing that some may welcome a change.

they better get their butts in gear in order to impress the next guy! I believe the weight room would be a good place to start.

I'm just hoping they can be strong and turn this into a positive. My concerns are for them right now. With that said, somebody pointed out they better get their butts in gear. It's a chance for the guys like Jimmy Johns to start off with a clean slate and get the PT. It's also a chance for some dead weight (if there is any currently) to be dropped. We saw Croom, we saw Spurrier, we saw Tubs and others, so players be warned to get it in gear and get on with the team spirit, there's no room for lone rangers.

I've got a friend on the team that called me this morning before the conference at like 6:30am. I can't speak for all of them, but he seemed excited about a new coach. He said that he respects shula for his loyality to the program and for coming in during that dreadful time, but he believes that this was a step for the better for the alabama program.

If true, it's just another in a long line of Mal Moore Missteps.

the players don't have to workout till' 2:15 this afternoon. I would imagine there would be a meeting then. That leaves them all morning to read this stuff
