It's just hard to follow the logic that says 2 loss Auburn belongs ahead of one loss Alabama.

Exactly. Even though Auburn beat us, they still have two losses, one of which was to a team we beat (LSU), while we still only have one loss while suffering greatly from injuries to key players.

Any argument for us going ahead of Auburn is invalid (assuming they win the SEC champ). They beat us by 12 points in the last regular season game of the year. And, if they beat UGA, they will be SEC champions.
Head to Head victory AND and SEC championship - NO shot for us to go instead of them.

I'm not saying we can't be in the playoff, but I am saying no way we get in ahead of Auburn IF Auburn wins the SEC.

Okay. That sounds reasonable. But we don't need to care about being ahead of Auburn. As long as we can land in the top four and make the playoffs, we're good.

I can name the number of championships off the top of my head. I can't name the number of wins or losses against Auburn off the top of my head. If Alabama would lose to Auburn every year but have a guaranteed championship, I'd take that in a heartbeat. I care far more about Alabama than I do about Auburn.

Anyway as to the question itself, there are basically 7 teams that have a chance of getting in ahead of Alabama.
Miami and Clemson play each other. The winner is in, the loser is out.
Auburn and Georgia play each other. The winner should make it in (a two loss Auburn team might be cutting it close).
That leaves 5 teams.

ACC Champ
SEC Champ
Wisconsin
Oklahoma
Then it's back to Alabama. So basically Wisconsin or Oklahoma need to lose. They have a pretty good shot right now, but that's kind of with BCS logic. With the committee? No one really knows...

To the people that are really down on this team. This team has issues, but the biggest one is they are really beat up. They are going to be resting while other teams are playing. This means if they do get in, we should see a better, healthier team.

I completely understand. I guess I’m just [emoji20]

Alabama isn't going to the playoffs. The entire playoff system was established to give Ohio State a change to win a NT. So it will be Oklahoma, Ohio State, Clemson, and Auburn....UGA isn't beating AU.

No way......I think uga beats auburn when the game isn’t played in Lee County

Again, 2 loss teams should not be in the playoffs unless there are not enough undefeated/1 loss teams. Next year I guess we’ll consider 3 loss teams. At some point the losses have to keep you out no matter how many good teams you beat.

It actually is a valid argument, just one that the committee isn't likely to make. I'm old school, losses used to matter more. Now, we're looking at two loss teams and just casually discussing them jumping one loss teams. Power 5 teams mind you! Look, Auburn beat Alabama. Ok, Alabama beat LSU, who beat Auburn. But, Auburn also lost to Clemson. Does that not count? That's the issue, that somehow a loss is getting erased like it didn't really happen. If the Clemson loss gets erased, because they're one of the top teams, why can't the Auburn loss get erased to? In which case is Alabama an undefeated team and Auburn a one loss team? It's just hard to follow the logic that says 2 loss Auburn belongs ahead of one loss Alabama.

I agree with you. People seem to ignore actual results on the field. Losses should be a big factor, but people seem to keep ignoring them.
Of course, I should say that I also think that conference championships are important.

Yep. And for all it's worth, and this might seem like a crazy way of looking at it, we won't have to risk getting a loss in the SECCG, or potential injuries. In fact, nothing would be sweeter to me than to get our team rested and healthy again, and play a rematch against Auburn when it counts more.

And look at it this way.....the committee looks at health of a team also. Kerryon J. may still be banged up.

We may get 3 LBs back on our D.

Again, 2 loss teams should not make the playoffs unless there are not enough undefeated/1 loss teams left. How many losses does it take to rule you out. I guess next year we’ll consider 3 loss teams. At some point the number of losses has to matter more than who you beat. Last year and before that number was 2 but now we are automatically putting a 2 loss team in.

Wisconsin, UGA and Bama are they only teams being considered for the playoffs without a loss to an unranked team (LSU was unranked when they beat AU).

I do not think we will make it because we did not acquit ourselves well today. We frankly looked like we barely a top 25 team out there. The SEC is weak. Only our champion deserves to go.

As has been discussed, remember that Clemson and Miami each have one loss and they have to play each other next Saturday. So one of them will be dropping to two losses. We won an NC after sitting at home and watching LSU win the SECCG one year.

If Auburn beats GA in the SECCG they should be ranked #1. Their two losses against our 1 fade when you consider they have beaten two #1 teams already. I agree we should go in ahead of OSU if they beat Wisconsin.
