Overall, a better performance than in some previous games. Maybe they sensed this was probably their last game of the year and they had nothing else to lose. But many of the mistakes in this game were continual repeats of the same mistakes from games (and seasons) past. The same tired old offense that no longer works with the physical nature of the players that we have on the floor. The same tired old defense that is dominated by other teams who have players with less athletic ability than ours. The same lack of ball control that results in way too many turnovers.
In short, we are not making progress with our team. They are not improving, nor have they been improving for the past few years. Unfortunately, next year's team is going to be the same as this year's team because this type of offense and defense are all CMG knows so that's all he teaches. Kind of like a farmer that doesn't know anything about crop rotation, so he plants the same seeds in the same field year, after year, after year, and each year his crop yields are less, and less, and less.
I'm just saddened that we are probably going to have to watch this same sad lack of performance again next year, and probably the year after that. That will continue until Mal Moore retires and his replacement sees the problem and decides to fix it.
So now basketball is over, for the Tide anyway, and we're one day closer to football.
