Post Iron Bowl Workplace Smack Talk

I wish I had taken advantage of the 42-14 and 49-0 the last 2 years. The clowns I work with here in the office are typical: You did not hear a word from them the last 2 years. As a matter of fact, you would not have known if the barn had a team because they never mentioned it. Of course they are out in force today which reminds me of why I hate auburn.

Here in Seattle I have all sorts of sec/Bama haters giving it to me. On top of it, I'm a huge saints fan and they are playing the seahawks tonight. I've been asked twice if I can handle "getting my tail whooped" twice in one weekend.

It hasn't been bad at work, just some all-in-good-fun type stuff. It was actually much worse at church yesterday - not really mean spirited or anything, just more of them to deal with. Several *U fans were throwing each other some kind of goofy "War Eagle gang sign" to each other or something, didn't really get it.

I didn't have any problems with the big Aub fans because I had said before the game I thought Bama would have trouble stopping the run because of a lack of penetration; I just told them Auburn deserved to win which is the truth, though Bama is the better team. They know there was some flukey plays; not as delusional as most AUBs; just thankful to be still in it with Bama.

You know it's eerily quiet here I figured as big of a Bama fan as I am they would be lined up to give me the business lol but the one Auwburn fan I talked to I congratulated she said "thanks in kind and said hate to say it but bama just didn't play very well I was surprised" it's almost as if their in as much shock as we are ??? Crazy I know but that's the way it seemed lol

It's funny, but the only comment I really got came from my girlfriend's dad. She is a student at Stanford. So they are both die-hard PAC-12 fans, and they both hate the SEC. (She was recruited by Pat Murphy to play softball, but they both that said he came across as a cocky jerk and they have hated Alabama since then) He sent me a text on Sunday morning telling me to "Roll Tide, all the way back to Tuscaloosa." Funny thing is, I've only met him once, and he hasn't texted me in over a month. Didn't go over to well, and wound up leading to a humdinger of an argument between her and I.

Outside of that, most people have been pretty sympathetic and cordial about it with me. However, I mind my manners and show class whether we win or lose, so that is what I expect to get.

It wasn't to awful bad at church yesterday. One of my young guys wore his awbun hat, jacket and shirt. He gave some Kleenex tissues. One lady brought in a roll of paper towels and gave to me from her husband. So here where I live, it wasn't so bad.

Couple of people from work (Missouri fans) wanted to talk on Sunday.. I never returned their messages. After the game on Saturday though I had "friends" come out of the woodwork to rib me.. Nothing like deleting posts from fans of an 8-3 team!!!!

If they give you grief, just say, " You guys are absolutely right. I`m so unaccustomed to losing that I need help from you guys with experience to tell me how to get through it." I`ll bet it shuts `em up !
I would just take the high road. If you strike back, you could escalate the issue and it would only get worse if they end up winning the BCSCG. Better to hand them their win and let it go quietly, IMO.

This had some potential

Oh I got a big dose of it in the men's room of all places. Walked in and stood next to a Barner in his $Cam Panthers Jersey. I told him congratulations and he kept it super classy by screaming at me as I walked down the hall to get back to work. I could still hear him as the elevator doors closed... Stay classy Aubie.
