Pocket passer today; pocket passer tomorrow; pocket passer forever?

Seems this thread is creeping back into the current season rather than 2018 QB completion, which is the thread title. Jalen is the starter. He gives us the best chance at the win PROVIDED that our coaches design an attack based on the running game and clock possession with less RPO/QB centric decision making. Tua deserves to have a series or two kind of like the way the wildcat is implemented because he has played well as a true frosh and does add a different dynamic into our offense.
You are correct, I started the thread basically just suggesting that Tua has more upside in the passing game than Jalen does and hoping that he has a real opportunity to compete for the job in the spring. My opinion, is that Jalen gives us the best chance to win the next 2 games.
I saw this too. One person claimed it was from a poster on Tide Insider. I didn't post about it because I wasn't sure if it would be against the rules. It didn't creep back it jumped back several pages ago when we found out we were in the CPF.
It was a natural transition to start considering the rest of this season and what that means for the qb position.
FWIW, there are some people on Twitter suggesting they are hearing Tua might play in the CFP. The person saying this has some connections, but I'm not sure how close his connections are.
I think we have some posters here who have the same kind of connnections and maybe better ones so they can confirm or deny if they see fit.

I don't see how it is much different than "speculation" that it could happen. Some of the mods here have said they think it's possible that Tua could play too.
I sincerely doubt we'd ever get "official" confirmation of this from CNS anyway because why tip your hat?
Agree with you about Tua's qb ceiling being higher. Out of curosity, do you think Jalen gives us the best opportunity to win the playoff if he plays like he did against Auburn? What if it's true he's lost the confidence of his teammates?
Anyone ever consider the team may be floating these rumors of Tua playing? Would mean clemson has to account for that possibility and try to game plan for that possibility. This could all be a misdirection from the inside. Remember some think we tanked IB to get rested up LOL So if Nick is that cunning, maybe he planted this story to make opponents consider Tua playing. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmWell the playoffs are certainly a time to catch opponents off guard , that would certainly do it. I don't think I would be surprised at all if he was played in some capacity but I'm not sure how anyone would really know for sure , I think thats something the coaches will keep under wraps if so. As mentioned by one of the mods, it would probably be determined based on the score and how the game has unfolded at that time.

All true. Of course, the problem is that other teams have learned how to crowd the line and neutralize JH's feet. To get out of that trap, we have to change the play-calling and JH has to execute those plays. AU, for practical purposes, ignored the "P" part of the RPO, with the backup being that, if Ridley or someone else, got behind them, they'd just grab, give up the 15 if they got caught and try to hold us again. It worked. I've heard the rumors of both QBs playing, along with everyone else, and I do expect to see it, if JH can't/won't get rid of the ball quickly enough. It only makes sense, if the game develops the way the AU game did and Clemson defenses us similarly. (And I don't know why they wouldn't.)Back when people were primarily blaming play calling I was pointing out execution errors, including but not limited to Jalen's. More information has come out since then and the pendulum has swung the other way, placing an increasing amount of responsibility on JH. I feel like the pendulum swung past me. I am very conscious of the mistakes he clearly made, believe the insider reports, not at all denying the team's frustration (which I believe was visible in body language during the game). Just saying I think the turnover, penalties, and some sloppy plays by other guys made a big difference, too, and if it were up to me I would 100% start Jalen, expecting the whole team to support each other to improve. Nobody played error free football against Auburn, nobody should be casting stones. I think good execution would be enough. However I would definitely not rule out a TT appearance if things go sideways, but it remains that JH's feet are major weaponss and he does have the experience.
It would be stupid to not start with the same defensive philosophy.and Clemson defenses us similarly. (And I don't know why they wouldn't.)
Well I'll never be one to think Saban tanked an iron bowl , but I think right now the whole qb thing is probably speculation . Whether it comes from the coach or fans it would probably serve the same purpose but if coach decided to go a certain way or include both QBs I'm sure he's told them . I don't think practices will reflect anything to the public as Tua gets a lot of reps with the ones in practice anyway. So we'll just have to wait and see what the game plan is
I really hope it's utilizing our running backs as a first priority. Just my two cents from a fans perspective
I totally agree with running back thing. WE have to run the ball with the backs and establish the run from the get go. I got nothing against passing but so many things can go wrong, and everything has to go right for it to work. With our backs, give them the ball, all they need is a crease not a huge hole. Let them make the plays, they can do more on their own than a QB passing. If blocking is working on both styles, run then only relies on RB. In pass you still have more variables. Passer being accurate, WR getting open, and actually making the catch. How many drops have we had this year, not a ton but enough. Also passing opens up the illegal lineman down field etc. Like Bear said when asked why he mostly ran. He said in a pass 3 things can happen and 2 of them are not good. 1 a catch, good.....2 Incompletion, bad.....3 INT, bad. Things to ponder late at night while waiting for weeks to actually play again.
That phrase about 3 things happening on a pass was credited to Darrell Royal, although CPB may have used it at some point since he and Coach Royal were close friends.
You sure it wasn't Woody Hayes? That phrase about 3 things happening on a pass was credited to Darrell Royal, although CPB may have used it at some point since he and Coach Royal were close friends.

In a 2005 interview Royal gave credit to Woody Hayes. "Royal credits Ohio State’s Hayes, his contemporary and friend, with being the first one to say three things can happen on a pass play and two of them are bad."That phrase about 3 things happening on a pass was credited to Darrell Royal, although CPB may have used it at some point since he and Coach Royal were close friends.
I heard Coach Bryant use it on his Sunday TV show more than once. I never heard him say anything which could be construed as taking credit for it...That phrase about 3 things happening on a pass was credited to Darrell Royal, although CPB may have used it at some point since he and Coach Royal were close friends.
