re: RB Trent Richardson Update (1/27): Info from the LSU visit & UF in-home visit

True BUT the sheer fact that TR didn't de-commit after visiting Gainesville and he won't visit Knoxville because CNS doesn't want him to tells me he is all Bama, IMHO.
Why would he?

He's trying to build NSD drama because he wants to have an "announcement."

So, A) he's solid to us and wanted to have a little NSD pub or B) he's switching on NSD.

A little background info...he was encouraged to commit before his senior year because of his injury luck and people around him wanted him to "have a spot" in case of catastrophic injury his senior year. A player of his caliber should have an "announcement' of some type.

IMO, the reason he stays with Bama comes down to this in the end. In spite of all the pressure from UF, stay in state, the sweet talk of Urban....it will come down to CNS vs. CUM. And, TR has said the difference between the two is CNS runs a "pro" program, while CUM runs a "college" program. Advantage us.

Very good post RTO. l really like the point you made about the announcement. It think the fact that Richardson keeps saying that he will announce his decision on NSD has been rubbing a lot of Bama fans the wrong way. I believe some fans are thinking that he has already committed to Bama why does he need to announce a 'decision' on NSD?

Richardson has said all along that he is committed to Bama. He has never wavered. He recently said it is still a good commitment to Alabama. I believe he is just taking the visits to reassure himself that he has made the right decision and of course to enjoy the 1st class treatment he is getting. One of his latest comments was that he will be glad when NSD is over. That is reassuring to me because I think that means that he can not wait to sign with Bama and be done with the recruiting process.

Saban asked that of McCarron. I don't believe he ever asked that of Trent... or at least I don't remember reading about it.

Hmm, enough of this dilly dallying. The question I want to ask is this: will he start for us next year? What kind of numbers do you see him putting up in an offense comparable to what we had this year? Can he replace Glenn Coffee in his freshman year?

I honestly believe that this guy is coming to Alabama and always has been (though he might not have known it himself) simply because it is the smartest move he can make for his future. If he wants to play in the NFL he will be in Tuscaloosa come August. It is the perfect situation for him and I know that he can see that. Period.

Ingram and the boys will have a lot to do with how much TR plays. Competition makes everyone better, so we'll see how the boys respond to TRs addition.

What? Enough dilly dallying. lol Who is being indecisive? Certainly not TR he is committed to Bama and has said so. He has not changed his commitment throughout his recruiting process like many other prospects this year. He has made the deicison to visit other schools which is a prudent thing in my opinion. I am glad that you think that you know TR better than he knows himself. Can you give us the details off his announcement on NSD? ;)

I Believe he was referring the dilly dallying to us talking about whether or not he is solid to his commitment! He was simply saying that he is not worried about TR, he will be in crimson next year, "lets just talk about what he's gonna do on the field already" kinda thing ... That's how I interpreted anyways...

FWIW Sonny Shipp, who is a LSU guy who works for Scout, said he talked to TR and he said as long as Saban and Coach Cochran(guess he really likes him) are at Bama, thats where hes going. Thats the view from the other side.

All right you Richardson doubters...

If one of the Corndog media sunshine pumpers, going on the record, saying that Richardson will be going to Alabama, after speaking directly with him, doesn't convince you that Richardson is indeed solid with Alabama, nothing ever will.

And another one...

The Florida Scout.com editor has long had a good relationship with Trent, and they spoke frequently on the phone. However, he went on the record today saying that Trent is no longer accepting or returning his phone calls.

Even the Florida "experts" on Scout.com are now expecting Richardson to stick with Alabama.

Nice one BET. Hadn't heard about that one yet. Trent is as good as signed. Its a great time to be a Tide fan. And one a side note if EL gets qualified or goes to Hargrave and enrolls in the spring...HOLY SMASHMOUTH FOOTBALL BATMAN!! Richardson AND Lacey would be INSANE. Lacey's video is amazing and Trent is unstoppable. Sorry I lost my bearing again for a second. RTR.:BigA:

IMO, next year, Ingram will play The Glenn Coffee role of this past season and Richardson will play the role that Ingram played last year. Or I should say, that could be the way the year starts out, but the roles very well could reverse themselves as the season goes along.

This all sounds very good to me....AB Tider, you are allowed to lose your bearing every now and then...especially when talking about Alabama football:biggrin: TR has been a favorite that I have been watching and to seal the deal is exciting. I think we have greater needs on the OL and DL and maybe DB's but seems that the play makers always are the ones that get the most attention creating the most buzz. We will be looking good at RB for a couple of years aas long as the we pull TR and maybe Lacey. RTR

Don't be so quick to underestimate some of the backs we have coming back next year aside from Ingram, they will have a significant say in how much PT Trent is able to earn. These guys aren't just going to roll over and give up just because of how highly touted TR is, they're going to fight for PT just like TR will be. It will make them all better.

re: RB Trent Richardson Update (1/27): Info from the LSU visit & UF in-home visit

I can't help but remember that this time last year we were going through this same thing with the recruits down in here on the I-10 corridor -- Julio, Burton Scott, the WR from Tallahassee who signed a baseball contract, and Glen Harbin. Every one of them was either "undecided" or "soft verbal." Most of them were into this same "Florida or LSU" thing.

This is just a theory, but it is very easy to get on I-10 and speed off to either Gainesville or Baton Rouge for a fun weekend. Then, why not keep the people up in Birmingham, etc. worrying about you and making all those nice posts about you?
